Eww.
Have you had it checked out? I dunno where exactly you live, but the fact that a spider bit you in the first place doesn't bode too well, regardless of whether or not you live in an area where poisonous types reside.
I like the fact that you've picked up on and used what I always thought of a purely English curse as well; what a good influence we are

Hehehe, it seemed appropriate, even though I know that's not what it means.
It's better today, so I'm not too concerned. I'm a bit out of the "web" of where the Brown Recluse resides in the U.S. Otherwise, I'd be a bit worried. The only other poisonous spider around here is the Black Widow, which is quite plentiful, but not indoors. I find them about once a year when weeding the flower beds, turning over the rocks in the border. Ewww.

Sure, blame it on the dog(!)

Yesterday I went bowling again, but just missed out on winning the game by 4 points (scored 105) Doh!
Arsenal lost also - double doh! Hope they can do the business against Portsmouth.

The term 'bugger' can be applied to many situations, so as long as it wasn't the most literal sense of the word, we're good

Whilst the idea of coming into contact with a Black Widow does not seem pleasant, at least it's not as bad as things in Australia. The US has plenty of poisonous animals, but it seems as though all creatures in Oz have some sort of incapacitating/killing abilty. It just varies from 10 seconds to a few minutes. Yes,
Arachnophobia messed with my mind when I was a kid.
I'm sure those Koalas have a poison gland that zoologists just haven't found yet.

They were terrible yesterday. I'm no fan of Man. Utd, but dear oh dear.

Yeah they were pretty bad. Lehmann made some good saves but they wasted chances and there was no-one marking Rooney which led to the 2 goals.

Didnt help much that Henry was 'rested' so he could be fit for that oh-so important match against Portsmouth(!)
I guess Wenger just wants Man Utd to go on and challenge Chelsea a bit more...!?

Okay, even though I'm not even CLOSE to being 68 years old, I feel like I'm going senile. Wasn't there a thread last night about Bisc reporting that a dead body was found in his hometown? Has that thread just completely vanished?

Tick tock, Bobbi, tick tock.
68 may be a while away (despite my earlier, childish jibes), and whilst your looks aren't diminishing, it seems as though the rest of you is going to pot.
Look at the list of threads and try to spot one that looks like it wasn't there before. Instant forum gaming!

Today I bought weight bracelets for the wrists/ankles. 2 kg each. Although, I usually do shadow boxing with 5 kg dumbbells, it is way more comfortable to do it with 2 kg on each hand which you don't have to grip on to throughout the whole process. It's really pretty good. On my way home today, I wore them on my ankles under my trousers. After an hour or so I arrived and took them off. Felt like I was able to fly. Really cool. Won't go out running without them anymore.
Also bought a pair of latch locks. They fit in my pockets, so wherever I am going, I am now also training my forearms.

DUDE!!!
Are you serious? I was just about to do the exact same thing: buying those weights for round the ankles to help me with my kicking and punching. (watching the shaw classic Shaolin Temple at the moment which kinda reminded me of that practice, plus I read some stuff about Fong Sai Yuk today which also had something simular...)
Can you get a picture of the ones you bought? Cause I used to have some that just flew off whenever I kicked, so I will need some new ones that I can REALLY strap round my ankles so they wont move and/or fly across the room.
I'll be using it to improve my flying kicks, since I've recently been able to get (pretty much) back into the full splits...
But dude, you run for an hour? I could NEVER do that. I can play football for a couple of hours non-stop, but thats cause there's a ball to focus on, plus I'm competitive... but just running for the sake of running: I'm crap at it. In school I always finished 3rd (out of about 40-50 guys), and that was mostly cause I just couldnt bother with catchin up with the first 2 fanatics, but was to stubborn to finish anything lower then 3rd...
But when I joined a footballclub I was REALLY crap at running (without a ball)...
BTW, Bruce Lee says in his book that a 10 minute rope-skipping session is more intensive and productive then 30 minutes of running, plus I believe it's easier on the knees? Then again, he also always went running...
You've got some heart, kid!

What a coincidence. LOL!

The Jet Li "Shaolin Temple", right? Man, I also get inspired a lot by movies. Today I walked by the video rental I work at and I saw a package of new DVDs that arrived today. I saw the new German release of "Knockabout" and got really happy, cheering and stuff. My colleagues at the store are really cool and into Asian films, too. Not as much as me, but you get the idea. One of them is 38 years old and watched a lot of Shaw flicks at the theatre in when he was a kid. He even used to skip school to watch the latest Ti Lung-flick.
Anyway, two of my female colleagues couldn't understand how I was able to get so happy over an old martial arts film called "Knockabout". Stupid hens asking me what I get from these films. Joking with them I replied that these films would unlike them errect me. He he he! They were kinda pissed, but I had fun.
[Francis]Uhm... where was I...?[/Francis]
[Reg]I guess you are done![/Reg]
Gone way off-topic here, sorry.

But dude, you run for an hour?
Sometimes. But not today. I was
walking home from my Tae Kwon Do-class. Train rides, stairs and all the usual things you walk on when you're outside. All these were kinda different with these weights, although they were only 4kg together.
BTW, Bruce Lee says in his book that a 10 minute rope-skipping session is more intensive and productive then 30 minutes of running, plus I believe it's easier on the knees?
Which book?
Have you got this book, Yi?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 81-4760725
It's a really good book and it covers everything in Bruce Lee's everyday martial arts life. Muscle training, stretching, diet, etc etc...
Then again, he also always went running...
Did you watch the HKL interview with Robert Lee (Bruce's real life brother)? He talks about how he went running with Bruce Lee and it's really interesting to listen to his story. Kinda forgot most of it, but in the end he would be exhausted after 1 hour and Bruce was still full of energy as if he simply ran across the street.
You've got some heart, kid!

Moi? That's sweet, thanks!

Boy... you sure are smooth with the ladies
I actually didnt mean the Jet Li shaolin temple movie, but the shaw brothers flick, with Fu Sheng and 'the venoms' (whoever they might be). In the movie the guy from Hard Boiled is training with weights around his ankles, so that kinda reminded me to buy those... cause I was planning to for a while now... but ofcourse I'm only just barely getting back in (kicking) shape, so I didnt really have a direct need to buy them much sooner anyway...
Anyway, Knockabout is pretty enjoyable. Not as good as Prodigal SOn, but the training sequence where Yuen Biao is rope-skipping is an all-time classic. I have the HK DVD which is of pretty crappy quality (bad subs), so I'll probably pick up the HKL when it's on sale for 6 pounds orso...
Can you get a picture of the ones you bought?

Thanks man. They dont slip? And they're about 2 kg's EACH? or 4 KG's each?
But dude, you run for an hour?

walking home from my Tae Kwon Do-class. Train rides, stairs and all the usual things you walk on when you're outside. All these were kinda different with these weights, although they were only 4kg together.
I also plan on just wearing them when going outside, although I fear it might look a bit stupid... or they might slip of or something...
Did you practice any kicking with them?
BTW, Bruce Lee says in his book that a 10 minute rope-skipping session is more intensive and productive then 30 minutes of running, plus I believe it's easier on the knees?
Which book?
I just looked it up, and indeed I did read about it in a Bruce Lee book (Bruce Lee's Fighting Method vol. 2: basic training, page 16), but it says it was only discovered recently that 10 minutes of skipping rope is equivelant of 30 minutes of jogging, and the book was written after Bruce's death, so I guess Bruce didnt know that yet when he was still alive...
No I dont have that one (yet?).
I've seen it in the shops a few times and occasionally thought of buying it, but didnt. It's a very nice and interesting looking book though, but I hesitated with buying it cause most of the info I saw in there, is also in his Jeet Kune Do book... which I already have.
Then again, he also always went running...

Havent seen it, what DVD is it on?
I've read about him running with Stirling Silliphant I believe, and they had run for 3 miles or something, and Stirling wanted to give up and wanted to stop so he asked Bruce to slow or he (stirling) was gonna die, and Bruce just responded: 'so die!' or something, and continued running. SS was mad and also kept running, and later Bruce explained to him that people shouldnt set barriers for themselfs, otherwise you might as well be dead cause you'd stop growing/improving... or something like that.

People suck most of the time, but you still need to interact with them, so best get in the practice. Plus you get money for it. Don't want to become a hermit do we like the little oldy lady who keeps pet snakes and waves her cane at any passing youth??
