Wow, those graphics really blow. Play GTR 2 instead. The anal-retentive dead-on physics that sim racer fans love + ZOMG TEH GRAFFIX. Have the cake and eat it too. http://media.pc.ign.com/media/794/794327/imgs_1.html
GTR2 uses the same graphics engine as rFactor.
My caps went crappy when I resized them (+ I'm using low-res textures on some tracks).
I'd say GTR2 and rFactor are evenly matched.
But rFactor has more mods (at the moment).

Finished HL2 for the first time. Horrible last level, not as bad as HL1's though.
On the whole the game was much too easy, I played on hard and there were only two times where I was close to death. Once in Nova Prospect when you have to defend a room from all-out assault and another time on the last level when you face walkers. AI is awful and you don't take nearly enough damage.
As well as easy it was a bit boring. Some sections were entirely too long or just plain tedious. One of the biggest pulls is the pre-scripted events, But after a time they become predictable and less interesting. It all became a bit tedious and I wasn't having a whole lot of fun.
Visually it still looks pretty good and performs superbly. The effects are beginning to look a bit dated and some of the map textures are a bit weak, not to mention the models but it's generally a visually impressive game. It has a real 'WOW' factor.
I really wished for more from HL2. It has a great concept and setting but these aren't developed at all. It's a definite must play for any gamer, but it could have had so much more story and depth.
Valve should have hired Warren Spector. Can you imagine how good HL2 would have been if it had Deus Ex depth? The setting was tailor-made for such a thing.
I started playing FEAR. It's okay thus far. Everything about it screams Half-Life meets J-horror clone though - Eg a mute protagonist, scripted events out the wazoo. The graphics and EAX are very nice. I like the Bullet Time mode and emphasis on stealth, adds strategy to the mix.
That's on PC, right? I dont really play games on my PC. Too much hassle with getting everything to work right, like downloading patches for the graphic-card, etc etc.
I tried a few games, like Far Cry etc... and then I got a new graphics card and suddenly the whole game was fucked up. Same with Call of Duty 2, where it worked fine with my old graphics card, and was slow when I installend the new graphics card. I will just keep with consoles for my gaming, untill we're a few years into the future and the PC is the media-center of the living room and we have wireless controllers around etc... being able to play these games on a huge HD screen.

No... one was an Ati, and that one got replaced with a NVidia... and some of the games werent ready yet for that nvida or something. Hell i dont know, but I would have to install patches for Far cry and all that crap. i couldnt be bothered, to be honest.

I finished FEAR. It was repetitive but also quite fun. The frantic fire fights and the bullet time made it a good experience. The graphics/FX and the EAX were very nice indeed.
Pfft at people saying that it was scary, it was about as scary as a crippled pensioner.

You have to uninstall the driver regardless if the piece of hardware is still installed in your case or not.

Really? Aw that sucks then. I used to have a 256 Ati, but it was constantly overheating, so after my third one they replaced it with this card.
Which is a good, yet cheap, graphics card for my PC? Or should I just save my money for a whole new system in a year orso? I'm on fucking wellfare right now, so I have lots of money to spend

I have no clue as to what slots they are. I have an AMD Athlon 64 motherboard. How can I tell if it's PCI or AGP?
I'll go check how much an Ati X1650 costs. Not sure if I'm gonna upgrade my graphicscard, or my whole PC. First I wanna buy a new portable HD, so I can clean my C-drive up (now it's full with anime and vids of Toge's mom etc...).

- Battlefield 2 Complete Edition or Battlefield 2142?
Which should I get. I'm going to get 1 from each group to go along with my new PC purchase but I'm not sure which. I feel I may have more fun with Battlefield 2 & all its extras, and it may last a lot longer than Battlefield 2142 for me...
I'm interested in F.E.A.R. too, along with its expansion pack. I can get that for £17.99 (anyone seen it cheaper?) but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also looks very good. I'm not too sure about Prey though...
What's everyone's opinions on these games?
TH-42PX80 | DMP-BD50 (MR BD & DVD) | SA-XR55 | SB-TP20 | XBox 360 Slim 250GB | XBox (XBMC, 160GB) | Zotac XBMC HTPC | Gaming PC | 8TB Media Server
I loved Battlefield 2 on the Xbox, although I had serious problems with my xbox not reading it, and often having connextion problems with the EA server. I dont know how the server works for the PC, but it might be something to keep in mind.
I believe there is a whole new Battlefield being released pretty soon? Might be worth waiting for that one?
Fear, Stalker and Prey I have only heard a bit about, but really know too little about them to have an opinion.
