Yeah just got it off eBay, had previously only watched the Arrow release which unfortunately doesn't have the Italian track. I know some of his films are fine in English (e.g. Suspiria), but this one really isn't.

Just picked up The Karate Kid BluRay for 5 euro in a local store which is going out of business...

Haven't seen the movie yet, but at 5 bucks it's cheaper than the DVD I believe. :)

Mad Max 2: Road Warrior BD. I saw the DVD at the w/e. What an awesomely good fun film, it's better than the original too.

I loved how it felt epic in places but is actually just a b movie (no bad thing). I also loved it's not an American action film and not set in America (partly why I like Bourne). More action films should be set outside of America.

Tell that to Luckystars....

Sounds interesting... I expect it'll be on Film 4 within a few months. :D

It's coming out in the UK but there's no guarantee the original mono will be included. I know you don't care but Grim and I do.

I received by HK BD today :D

Wasn't in that much of a hurry to see it, considering what over-rated trash the director's earlier film Memories of Matsuko was. Kamikaze Girls was a relatively fun film, though.

Mark, now that you're getting more into Japanese movies, why not do yourself a favor and get Love Exposure from the rental store? A strong contender for my favorite film of 2000's so far... seen it 4 times.

I had a friend watch it and his comment was "my face is hurting from smiling 4 hours non-stop" :D

Don't be scared by the running time. I've shown it to 9 friends so far (including one's girlfriend who doesn't know anything about movies) and not even one complained about the length. I did, though. I thought it was too short :D

Maybe when it turns up on Film 4. ;)

Well, 3h 57min :D

But that's 3h 57 min of christianity, upskirt photography, kung fu, lesbianism, and all those other things that were not introduced during the first hour... :P

Allow me to post a few random quotes:

"It’s too bad words like 'masterpiece' and 'epic' have been so overused by excitable film critics, because Sion Sono’s Love Exposure is an actual epic masterpiece that is going to dominate the filmscape for decades." - New York Asian Film Festival

“It’s an absolutely fantastic experience, so intense you’ll be still struggling to assimilate it all for days, nay weeks, after you’ve seen it... I saw this three times last year.” - Jasper Sharp (Midnight Eye film critic)

"It's a twistedly ambitious, gonzo indie epic. After the last frame of film, two words came to mind -- words that come only after movies with this much spirit...Bow down." - Jason Gray (film critic)

+

In a readers poll on the famous Midnight Eye website, Love Exposure was chosen as 'The Best Japanese Film of the Decade'. Love Exposure beat off stiff competition from such titles as 'Battle Royale', 'Audition', 'Nobody Knows' and more to clinch top place.

ok, I should really get paid for all the marketing I do :D

That's what I thought, they must have been redone for the "remaster" (Korean DVD/BD).
