Re: Show your desktop ! (56k warning)
If a performer spat something at me I'd knock their fucking teeth out. That's disgusting. It amazes me what some people will put up with in the name of "art". It's no different that someone gobbing on you in the street - except that presumably here you pay for privilage.
And 1177 snaps of one girl/band(?) That's totally fucking psycho. Seriously we're talking restraining order territory. Do you know where she lives? Do you creep around in her garden at night hoping for a glimpse of tit between the curtains? Dude, get laid, FFS!
I think by these admissions Romero has forfeited the right to take the piss out of Brad for six months.

I am trying to get into the cash side of taking gig pictures and other photography, as I said I am not just snapping away like someone with their camera phone for fun (mind you I do enjoy taking any photos), and it has nothing to do with the seedy side you are on about. I take photos of most bands I see whatever sex or whatever they look like (which is a massive amount of bands/acts at the moment).
I am doing it to get good at it and hopefully a job in the industry. How do you do that? by taking photos. If I took 20 photos of a band, you do not exactly get much to pick from in that massive selection of shots and you are up shit creek if you get no good ones and need some.
and if a performer spat anything on you, then you would not do anything at all as security would kick your teeth out before you got within 6 foot of them

Well, to be fair You ARE Scottish, so you'd probably knock someone's fucking teeth out just for being in the same vicinity as you...
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

It's deeply ironic isn't it? You're told to go out and get a life for describing activities that have been regularly going on at rock concerts for decades now! Seriously, if the idea of someone having a drink spat over them while they were in the front rows of a rock gig truly shocks you THAT much then you're either a card carrying Daniel O'Donnell fan or incredibly naive about most of the edgier live acts past and present!romerojpg wrote:you have not been to many gigs and been in the pits I take it, as some bands create all Hell. If you go down the front, anyone surley knows what to expect at some gigs. I have been punched and kicked in the head by people, crowd surfers and even artists (accidentally) but thats what you expect down the front with some acts, but that is where you get the best shots so I dont mind.

Are you a pro gig photographer? Well, then.......romerojpg wrote:That must mean all pro gig photographers are also pervs then![]()
I guess we'll just have to take your word for that.I am trying to get into the cash side of taking gig pictures and other photography...I am doing it to get good at it and hopefully a job in the industry.
I wouldn't let them get away with it. That's for damn sure. I'd probably end up brawling with the security. Or I might try to get them after the gig. Maybe if I was able to calm down I'd take legal channels. Spitting is assault. You could have them charged with assault and there's plenty witnesses.and if a performer spat anything on you, then you would not do anything at all as security would kick your teeth out before you got within 6 foot of them![]()
I wouldn't go to see those kinds of bands.you have not been to many gigs and been in the pits I take it, as some bands create all Hell.
That's not good enough. Besides what if you didn't know? It's amazing what the plebs will accept if it's done by a celebrity. It's like the arse who was hit by John terry in his car last night. He was thrilled to have been hit by John Terry! That wasn't you was it?If you go down the front, anyone surley knows what to expect at some gigs.
An accident is an accident... but if you put up with any shit that makes you - in your words - a fool.I have been punched and kicked in the head by people, crowd surfers and even artists (accidentally) but thats what you expect down the front with some acts, but that is where you get the best shots so I dont mind.

Oh Mark. You do take life seriously. So you got spat on, it's not on but big freaking deal. I've never been spat on at any gig but then I wouldn't do things to warrant being spat on. I suspect Romero was being annoying, am I right?

Re: Show your desktop ! (56k warning)
I wish I had never posted my desktop now
I respect any artist I see live, and would never/have never done anything that would annoy them (even if they were Shit, which happens). I meet plenty after the shows, and even talk to some about things like this, I far from annoy them. People with cameras flashing them in the face every 5 seconds annoys them, and idiots shouting "get your tits out" and abusing them and tossing stuff at them, that annoys most artists. Respectful photographers like me dont, that is why many come up to me and pose for my camera and interact with me while they sing. If I annoyed them, they would stay away from me and set security on me, as they should and do to many idiots.
Still that band does spit, they spit tea and alcohol on the crowd, anyone within range, and putting it mildly it is fun, I can easily say not one person complained, in fact many were screaming to be spat on. They also kiss people and drag young ladies on stage and kiss them as well. Anyone who gets offended at that sort of stuff, well that up to you
but god help you when the crowd surfing begins or people start getting crushed so they cannot even breath and pass out.
and as for the hitting people, if you are in scrum of jumping people you get a knock or two, and you will never find out who even did it. I have tried to stop some morons once in a while, last time when I found out who did it as they were annoying many people, but we were out numbered badly when I turned around and told them to Fuck Off, as after that we had 7 foot long haired Vikings chucking full pints at us
mind you they were drinking (wait for it) Shandy, tasty

It is pretty obvious you have never in you life been to a Rock/Punk etc.. Gig, and never seen a Fan at the front on the barriers in your life. Or you are just blind and clueless.

Yup and next you will be saying people at the front dont ask for it, or do 100% mental things ever. Surley you have seen some bizare things go on then? or Just because you do not see it does not mean it never goes on. Acts never do anything mental remember
Or I guess I go to exciting gigs and keep my eyes open and try to capture many things on camera.

Just because these fanatics ask to be spat upon doesn't make them any less retarded for doing so. I'm sure you could find plenty who'd let their favourite stars piss and shit on them. That make it OK?

Jeez Louis Mark, why do you always insist on taking such a hard line? Romero was spat on, no one got hurt, he doesn't care. Meh!

Yes, if they want that let them go for itMarkgway wrote:I'm sure you could find plenty who'd let their favourite stars piss and shit on them. That make it OK?
The kind of person who gets at the very front of some gigs, waiting for hours to get in line before others, well I would say nearly always they know exactly what to expect at a gig if they are a fan. No non fan would cue up 4 hours early for shits and giggles, I was in line with some people like that the other day, lovely people, but "Fans" beyond words who travel all over following a band (costing them lots of cash and time, but thats what they love to do). People choose to be at the front I find.
Most gigs, frankly your average every day person would never be anywhere near the front, ever. So nothing exciting would ever happen to them. I have been stunned at what I have seen and been involved in at the front (not spitting and dirty shit), 99% of people behind me would never have even seen what goes on, their loss.
One memorable thing for me I had the lead singer of the Noisettes standing on my shoulders singing an entire song a while back, while I steadied her from falling off and killing herself, tell me that is not exciting if you love that band? if you are into that sort of thing it is. You dont get that if you are not into the music, or at the back like most people.
I adore music and photography as much as films, so mixing them together is nice for me. A bit of spit/tea and alcohol doesnt worry me at all

You know it's actually OK to get off the fucking fence once in a while, Brad.
If Romero doesn't mind getting spat on that's his business. But he posted about it here so I'm offering my fucking opinion. I think he's a tool for making excuses for music brats. Just as I think you're a tool for entirely different reasons.
That's hardly the same as being assaulted. It doesn't have to be spitting or nothing. You can have fun at a concert without bodily fluids. If you make excuses for the badly behaved you deserve to get spat on. It amazes me how much contempt bands show for the plebs who fund their debauched lifestyles.romerojpg wrote:One memorable thing for me I had the lead singer of the Noisettes standing on my shoulders singing an entire song a while back, while I steadied her from falling off and killing herself, tell me that is not exciting if you love that band?

You're completely wrong.... but if you get something out of it that's your lookout.
