I'm currently working my way through Rainbow Six Vegas, Quake 4 & Prey.

I think Rainbow Six Vegas is the stand out title of those 3, but Prey & Quake 4 are excellent too. I've got quite a few new games to go along with my newly-built PC so I'm just playing those 3 then I'm going to play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter after that...

I've been very distracted with Phoenix Wright for all of the last week :P
Havent quite finished it yet, but I've really enjoyed (enjoying?) it overall. I really like the murder mystery/adventure gameplay and the game also has a surprisingly good script as well as a good story (stories?) that actually display some continuity. The wry animé style humour, in the form of Phoenix's asides and *sweatdrop* comments make me smile :D Its not as good as Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door script though.
Having said that, the "humour" can get annoying sometimes (punning names like Will Powers, Lotta Hart and Misty Fey [say "mystify" etc] and a companion who acts about 10 years old despite being 17).
I also seemed to really care about what happened to Phoenix and his assistant, his rival, Miles Edgeworth as the stories are very good and clever.
However The next Episode (Episode 4) is pretty damn good, where your rival is framed for murder, and maybe there is a twist in the final Episode?) Episode 4 has nice emotional "closure" with a fake ending
Gotta love the title of the last "Episode" though, and the idea of having to play each level in turn and unlocking a new one when complete is a good one, pretty much a joy to play, loving it! :)
I found myself thinking that the storyline of Episode 4 would work well as animé or something and would suit the game's comic style.
Is the sequel worth getting?

Downloaded and started playing Sim City 4 this week. I was actually gonna buy it in the shop cause it was supposedly only 6 bucks or something, but couldnt find it.

Anyway, the game looks cool. I was a huge fan of Sim City 2000, where I ended up with a HUGE city (map completely full) with everyone happy and very low taxes, crime, pollution etc etc. There was nothing more to do in SC2000 back then.

Sim City 4m, however, seems a whole lot more difficult. I can build a nice city, but at around 20000 people I have too many expenses, and not enough income and stuff. Also dont really 'get' the whole 'neighbours' thing. Ah well... I'll try again tomorrow and I should probably play the tuts a bit to learn more about it all...

Ah well... it's keeping me entertained for now :)

Just beat:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Really enjoyed it, though the last (5th) case seemed to go on for ages. The ending is surprisingly touching too, even moreso than Episode 4. Finishing the game proper seemed tinged with sadness :( Its a shame it has no real replay value.

Use Orgy's texture pack for Thief 1.

I'm at home for a couple of days due to an appointment in the hospital on tuesday. So I've been playing Sim City 4 again. I had some trouble building a nice city when I first got the game, but at the moment I have a nice city going on (Hong Kong ;) ) with 80.000 people and making a profit (3 million in the plus) so seems to be going ok. Problem is that the city is pretty full already.
I've made a new city besides the Hong Long, and just started building that.

Also, I bought Resident Evil 4 on saturday for the Cube. (only 7,50, as it was 2nd hand). Only checked it out a little bit (didnt like the voices and gameplay takes a bit of getting used to) but hopefully i'm back at my girl's place on wednesday and can maybe give it another go.

Also heard that a local store is selling cube games for only 10 bucks. Problem is they have been selling them since last monday orso, so I doubt they have any good titles left. I'll check it out tomorrow.

FUCK! They didnt have Zelda TP anymore. All Cube games were only 10 bucks last week, but Zelda was obviously quickly sold out, and they wont get them back in store... :(
Damnnnn... I wish I would have been at home lastw eek, instead of over at my girlfriend's house, cause I would have been aware and able to visit the store much sooner :(

Ah well... managed to pick up Super Mario Strikers, which is supposedly good fun with 2 players. So hopefully I can get my girl to play as well...

Damn... nearly did I have the best Zelda game of the bunch.

I doubt I'll EVER pick up a Wii, so I'll have to wait to the far future to be able to play TP, on a next next-gen nintendo console. :(
(or I could just buy the game full-price, but that is just crazy talk)

Yuck... TP on GameCube. Dude, it is mirrored.

The Cube version is the right version, as Link is left-handed in that one. The Wii version is mirrored cause of the controller, en the fact most people are right-handed ;)

BTW, LD Where in Germany do you live?
I was in Oberhausen last week, and in Nettental and Staelen...

Dude, what were you doing there? Oberhausen is like 70 km from my location, Cologne.

As for the Wii version being mirrored, you're probably right, but as I only know the Wii version, the Cube version remains the mirrored one. :D Does that make sense? :D

Well.. I was spending the week at my girls place, and cause it's vacation and we had a car (her car) we decided to go shopping. In Germany.
So we went to Oberhausen which has a very nice mall, although tbh, I didnt find much, if anything, of interest there for me. Hardly any games for Xbox or Cube, and clothes were about as expensive as they are in holland. Books are all in german, as are the dvds. The only thing of interest was the amusement park and the restaurants :) I had my first Brattworst ever :D Plus some chocolat chip icecream, which was nice.
I did end up buying 2 barbels of 5 kg's each. :)

Sadly though, we couldnt find a Kaufland or Real supermarket, so we went back home, looked up the locations, and went back to Germany the very next day, to Nettental and Staelen.
Sadly, they werent as big as we expected. We've been to supermarkets in germany before, and they were HUGE, but these ones were all just pretty medium-sized. So that was a shame. I only bought some Milka chocolate bars, and when we went home we picked up some kebab (and we found out in the car they had given us 2, instead of 1, so that was nice.

That makes as much sense as a penguing with tanning lotion...

:)

As LD is familliar with the Wii version, to him the 'Cube version is the "opposite/mirrored" one. Pretty clear I think :)

I like Bratwurst (sp?) - some years ago there always used to be a stall in my town centre that sold bratwurst in rye bread, very nice :)

I completed Quake 4, pretty good experience. Raven are a solid developer, not a spectacular one though.

Just completed after one day of playing Fahrenheit (European Version) for the XBOX. Way too short game, but bloody excellent, got 62 bonus points left, and there is nothing I can purchase, I have got all the movies, soundtrack and pictures. The ending I got was Lucas / Humanity wins, by defeating everyone. Its a deeply engrossing game, and would def recommend this to everyone.

Fahrenheit was overall a great game, by actually having characters which genuinely grow to care about (Eg the option of sending the black detective on a train to warmer parts to be with his love). But honestly the change in direction towards the end was complete garbage, going from being an intriguing thriller into the fucking Matrix and Lucas essentially being Neo.

Plus there's like 20 days worth of plot missing which was cut out to time constraints. Time skip and suddenly bam Carla and Lucas are lovers.

I look forward to Quantic Dream's next game Heavy Rain, David Cage promised an homage to film noir, with no supernatural junk.

Carla and Lucas are lovers.
Yeah that came up too fast, especially since the 2 night beforehand I think, you can hook up with your old girlfriend.

I quite liked the supernatural part, but totally agree that it was getting sooo much like Matrix at the end, but great characters development, especially with the black detective. The beginning bit is excellent, love the camera work, and also love the control system as well. Very inventive, Will now def check out Heavy Rain.

Also liked the tutorial with the director of the game appearing :)
Can't believe it is cut in the US, especially since you can get unrated dvd.

They had no choice, games with AO ratings are the equivalent of NC-17 in the US. Unsellable, eg chain retailers refuse to stock them. (Not like Indigo Prophecy sold anything but next to fuck all anyway.)

Sony, MS and Nintendo don't want AO games on their system either. They're just covering their own asses. This is happening to Manhunt 2 in the US at the moment. AO rating, Nintendo and Sony saying "do not want".

Apparently the QTE sequences are totally rooted on the PC, since you have to rely on digital key buttons, not analogue control like on the console versions.

As I said, it the time skips ahead about 20 days, the dates given tell you this. Yes, you can hook up with your old girlfriend. This sets in motion some events that lead to tragedy.

Ahh yes, the bit where she dies, on the fairground and so are you, but then you can back to life. That bit was interesting, but like as you say, from then on, it went far to matrixy

When his parasite pops out after much damage:-
Climb onto his back immediately with A or B (depending on the randomly chosen QTE button) and start hacking away at his parasite by mashing A or B. Rinse and repeat until dead.

I'm currently playing System Shock 2, it is incredible. Very atmospheric with an intriguing plot that is gradually unraveled piece by piece.

Guns jamming and wearing out over time is bloody annoying, even more so that the lack of a gun mounted torch in Doom 3. (There's no ducktape on Mars, people would joke.)

Graphics haven't aged badly at all. Although it helps that I have the SHTUP hi-res textures pack and Rebirth Complement model replacement pack installed.

I can just feel in my bones that Bioshock will not be as good as this game. It being primarily developed for Xbox guarantees that it would've been dumbed somewhat for console gamers. For one, I've read that you can't die.
