yeah, but i dont have a credit card right now, my bank totally fucked up, and havent sent me a new one, so until sometime in the next couple weeks i wont have access to my account...not that i have any money in it but just mans i cant put anything in or take anything out, so icant order DVDs or my school books :shock:

The R2UK of the Exorcist TC sucks. They've severely truncated the 75min doco by 20+ minutes - including the entire removal of the Mark Kermode segments. It's fully intact on the R1, which is NOT OOP, contrary to popular belief.

Odd the British DVD cuts Kermode out. The Extended Cut is much better anyway, even if both cuts are SOOO overrated.

Both are far from rubbish but both are far from "the most scary film ever made" either. The Shining is far scarier.

The Shining is boring pants.

When Jack goes psycho and the revelations of what he was actually writing are revealed are so well handled. I was on the edge of my seat with fear. The 1.33:1 aspect ratio I still find weird but then this is a Kubrick film.

So few films are actually scary, this is one of them.

the shining, for its time is great, not the scariest ever film, but one of the better ones i've watched, kubrick's direction was great, tho not gorily scary it wass filled with creepy with the tension. tho the wife is actually, more creepy than most things in the movie but still its great...

Yeah, the original version lasts near 2.5 hrs.

According to the review on dvdtimes, the video isnt all that great.

But is any version great? (i.e - Transfer). Oh and it's $21.97 (£11.64/€17.23) not $14.99.

DVDpacific only list te item price on their packages, so £33.83 might just slip unfer the £18 limit, you should check the conversion scale Customs are using for changing $ into £ in the month of October.

Is that £18.07 before or after postage Grim? If after it will be fine. It's a brand new 3 DISC CC set, there's no way it will be cheap.

I thought that The Shining was terrific, still not scary though, but I'm extremely thick-skinned.

The next DVD releases/HD versions of Warner's Kubrick films are going to be matted to 1.78:1, about damn time I'd say.

Will you be getting the R1 or R2 of Shining, Brad? The R1 is probably still get the longer original TC, while R2/4 will probably still get the shorter Euro cut (which Kubrick prefers).

Me I'm very likely to pick it up; I hope it's Remastered further.

I'd get the R1 for the reason you mentioned, even though when I saw the longer cut I struggled to spot the extra 50 minutes. Maybe the previous version off TV I saw happened to be the longer cut.

Oddly Kubrick wanted the longer cut to remain in the US, so a DC is actually hard to say. My opinion I rate higher than the Director's (I don't go in for all this "Director's vision" bollocks).

I guess the longer cut is the better cut so I'll get that one.

I don't care about the "director's vision" when it comes to Kubrick, no one knows for sure cuz he died before the DVD format really came into it's own and widescreen tellys became the order of the day.

Have you seen captures? And agreed on your second point.
