Even the new "SE" got the 18 cert so it mustve concerned them still, possibly for the reason you cite.

Hey,

RED DWARF II: STATIS LEAK (VHS): The old VHS of 3 episodes (I had it) got a PG rating - in the "Kryten" episode Lister uses the word "arsehole", though strangely now ALL the RD DVDs have 12 certs. I thought with the drugs references (white powder) and swearing a PG was too lenient back in the day

SNAKE IN THE EAGLE'S SHADOW: This was rated 18 (!) by the BBFC - the uncut HK DVD is CAT I (U/PG)! What were the BBFC thinking? :D

Is the HK DVD CAT I or OAT I?

"Arsehole" is allowed occasionally in a 'PG'

OAT is not the same thing as a Category rating.

The OAT is to determine if an article is obscene. If it's not obscene it gets a I and if it is II. I guess adult sexual material would be normally given a II. But a I doesn't mean for kids. R-rated type movies can get an OAT I.

Ah thanks. Didnt know that.
I guess it would get at least a CAT IIA/B under the CAT system. :)

I would imagine a IIA as the film is bloodless.

Still far more lenient than the BBFC's 18. Even Drunken Master is probably too harshly rated at 15 (IMO). But a 15 for the Police Story movies (well 1-3 anyway) is probably about right.

Hey,
Been watching the old-school Turtles series recently (R1) and wondered what classifications these would ever get today were they re-submitted to the BBFC.
Back in the 90's these were of course cut to get U certs, but they'd have been cut anyway back then (nanchukus and references to Ninjas), but then again a whole new version was prepared for the UK (Hero Turtles not Ninja Turtles).
I'm sure a U/PG would be fine, as many of the fights in the cartoon are very slapstick in style.

I have no idea. Do the Loony Toons cartoons get 15/18 ratings?
Surely, attaching a coyote to a rocket and flying him into a train head-on, is a lil bit more 'violent' then hitting a mutated Rhino in the head with some nunchuka's?

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

No they don't. But the Looney Tunes Golden Collection 2 actually has a PG (!) rating on UK R2 for "frequent comic violence" (I was quite surprised when I saw that).
