LOL true.
i'm not a big audiophile tbh honest Brad, this should suit my needs
Fair enough. Personally for £300+ I'd want to take full advantage of the new format. I'd also not want to have to buy again, that said if you ever get a new amp you won't have to but 5.1 analogue outputs are pretty standard now so you could be taking advantage of Dolby TrueHD now.

I suggest you read this review: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63160
Also to get a comparison: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=62979

The missing 5.1 analogue outputs is big IMO, not wanting to put out your fire. Oh and the HD-E1 doesn't support 1080p, not a big deal IMO when it's going to be years before most will have a 1080p TV anyway.

EDIT:The HD-E1 drops the 5.1 outputs but the much more expensive HD-XE1 doesn't:

The UK models do support NTSC & PAL though (the USA is NTSC only) which doesn't mean a great deal when neither the USA or UK are Multi-region.

p.s - Personally right now I'd opt for a USA model but would in fact wait for the HD-XE1 to come down in price BUT I understand why you've taken the plunge so fair enough Mr. Salty.

well my first pioneer player was £450 about 7 years ago so in comparision £350 seems like a bargain. My son is getting the 360 add-on as well so come xmas there should be two HD players in our household :P

You have a son. I never knew that, how old is he? I didn't say I wouldn't pay that kind of money, my current DVD player cost me £550.

You must've been really early with DVD too.

What do you know? Each South Park episode contains intelligent social and/or pollitical commentary and are better than most political documentaries.

But agreed on Simpsons if it's the 1999 and onward seasons. Also Buffy/Angel are pretty shitty in reality.

What happened to The Simpsons in 1999?

I agree it's not as good as it used to be (at one point it was unmissable).

In 1999 I think the principal writing team for The Simpsons was changed, and Phil Hartman (who played Lionel Hutz among others) sadly passed away :( I'm sure there are other things though, I've heard the writers say many times that nowadays episodes are shorter because they have to pack more adverts in, and there isnt as good linking between the stories as there was.
