As it happens I really enjoyed Transformers but "great" it is not.

I havent seen Transformers (yet) btw. So Cant tell who's right or wrong, if there IS even such a thing when it comes to individual taste and preference.
Personally, I've never been a fan or even interested in 'Transformers', not the cartoon, not the toys, not the games and not the movie.
I'm not that big into 'robots', unless she's called Arale and looks like an 8 year old girl with glasses...

It's very dumb but the action makes it good enough to recommend it. Some scenes do look woeful though. There is a scene when the Auto-bots are all stood on top of this big building (it looks Middle Eastern) and as they're so much bigger than it it looks so much like a scene from Power Rangers. It's just awful.

The action at the end is great though but overall the film is really stupid in places. It's not T2 or Die Hard on the action stakes.

Transformers had so many worthless plot lines and other unnecessary crap, ie the one involving the intelligence analysts, the secret government agency. Then there's the juvenile humour. Was the joke about the lead's mother asking if he was masturbating in his locked room really necessary? Hell, it was a "family" film to boot.

They gave the humans too much screen time. They should've given the Decepticons some actual screen time where they interacted with each other.

I want to see epic robot battles. Not some fat black guy hacking from his mum's basement or John Turturro being an bumbling government asshat agent.

To rub salt into the wound, the battles that were actually there had dreadful cinematography.

Was there any conclusion to Spielberg's possible digital cleaning?

The analysts, anthony anderson and the secret government agency are merely plot devices to get the air strike going in the final act. Just imagine how bad a story edtor you have to be (or how little their opinions must have been heard by the director) to have plot devices that add 30mins+ to the narrative!

A Finnish critic reviewed the film, too. Said it's not a disaster but a rather lazy attempt. Same quality as Temple of Doom. The lack of any kind of realism hurt the action scenes, which go over the top. The humour works, and the gci isn't quite as bad as the trailer would let you understand. The ending is the worst in the series.

He was also wondering why David Koepp's unexciting screenplay was chosen, when people like Frank Darabont had given it a try (the explanation for this was that Lucas thought Darabont's script didn't have enough action. Spielberg loved it, though).

I like Doom and I think it's the best so I will probably enjoy this one, shame about Marion plastic surgery facelift thought, she looks alien.

Karen Allen's had surgery? Pity. I hate those fake-looking, manipulated faces.

I'm gonna go see this on Friday (if I can find the time).

I just have to see this at the flicks.

Temple of Doom is undoubtedly the weakest of the trilogy - I hope the 4th surpasses it.

I cannot stand it when people have so much plastic surgery they no longer look human. Plastic surgery except in medical cases is never necessary and IMO almost always makes someone uglier.

I Watched Last Crusade on BBC HD last night-it looked awesome,can't wait for the BD !
