There is no Candian 4 dvd edition, its a 3 dvd version
Its also got significantly worse picture than the french edition and a lack of subs in english on extras etc...
The HD versions at the moment are a pain anyway
all them extras availble and none at all! and the picture gets such different reviews, some say its shit, some say its perfect. Hard to know what to think
and it costs so much as well.

I don't know about the PQ but it does have English subs: "All extras apart from the audio commentaries in French with optional English subtitles."romerojpg wrote:and a lack of subs in english on extras etc...

3 discs or 4 discs, does it matter? It's still oodles of extras. So what if the commentaries aren't subtitles, that's still stacks of extras to get through.
Thankfully for me then I don't give a shit. Extras are so overrated. Keep the DVD 3 Disc set for the extras.romerojpg wrote:The HD versions at the moment are a pain anywayall them extras availble and none at all!
When I pick up Black Hawk Down BD and Ray HD-DVD I'll be selling my 4 disc Superbit Deluxe box set and LE respectively. Both the BHD BD and Ray HD-DVD have more than enough extras for me.

For what it tries to achieve yes, a basic DVD comparison. Besides it's been confirmed by many sources it has English subs. Why would they release it in America without English subs?romerojpg wrote:Do you really trust dvdcompareI dont.
Some Studio Canal HD-DVDs do, some don't. Mulholland Drive does, Terminator 2 does not. I've not heard about Brotherhood of the Wolf either way.romerojpg wrote:HD Versions all have mess up wrong pitch sound anyway, no idea if I would notice mind you.
Personally I doubt I'd notice. I've never noticed PAL speed up.

I own the 3 dvd canadian edition, I should know.grim_tales wrote:It's been known for years that the 3 disc set from Canada is the best for English speakers Romero. Go and complain to DVD Compare if you dont like the comparison
I did not say it was not the best version for English speakers.
I said I do not trust DVDCompare like its fact, like most people seem to, its not like they give you your cash back when they get it wrong and they get it wrong a lot.

You did say it didn't have English subs. I suggest checking the DVD next time, especially if you already own itromerojpg wrote:I did not say it was not the best version for English speakers.
The vast majority of their listings are correct. Their disclaimer even says to not rely on their listings 100%. I use them to have quick check, nothing more. For that they're very useful. I want to quickly see which DVD is best I use Rewind or I want to quickly see if a DVD has English subs I use Rewind.romerojpg wrote:I said I do not trust DVDCompare like its fact, like most people seem to, its not like they give you your cash back when they get it wrong and they get it wrong a lot.
In the case of BOTW it is known to be correct so is fact anyway.

You mentioned the canadian version.

Fair enough if you meant the French DVD but you were talking about the Canadian set, see:

If you were talking about the French set then your English failed youromerojpg wrote:There is no Candian 4 dvd edition, its a 3 dvd versionIts also got significantly worse picture than the french edition and a lack of subs in english on extras etc...

I suggest you re-read it, it's the Canadian DVD you've written about (even if you were talking about the French DVD) and just mention the French DVD in passing. I suggest thinking about your English in future before shooting off a sentence that doesn't mean what you're thinking.
Not that it now matters but guys reading the sentence above which DVD is Romero talking about?

I do own a 3 dvd canadian edition. I said I did later on in the thread haha
This is what I said early on, no word of canada at all, the conversation was about French editions, hence why I even spoke about them.

Bradavon bollocks again.I still own the Crying Freeman French set, I did not mind the lack of subs, not the most complex film ever made. Brotherhood of the Wolf is another matter, how I wanted that set, but no english subs no sale for a french film.

I think that the 4 disc set only exists in france. I directed one of the documentaries from this 4th disc, and produced another one. To my knowledge, this fourth disc was never released outside france. It includes an old TV movie on the beast of gevaudan, the one that director C. Gans remembered watching as a child, a Gans directed interview with the original director, and some extras including my featurettes, that aren't available on the 3 disc set. I say this one is for Die Hard fans only (pardon the pun, this is the DH thread). No subs of course.

TBH the extras on the fourth disc don't exactly look particularly great, some small interviews and an old film that no one has ever heard of. The best extras are on Discs 2 and 3, which are included in the Canadian and USA sets.

But I must say The Brotherhood of the Wolf 3 dvd set is one of the best dvds in my collection (of a few thousand), wonderful extras that I can watch again and again and a film that is re-watchable foever. If only I spoke french I would own that amazing looking 4 dvd version and be able to listen to the commentaries, as they sound like they had a hell of a time recording them, esspecially when they are commenting on the sex scenes with Vincents old lady
