Most films are free to download! It doesn't mean the quality is always good (especially from a 1968 film) and it doesn't mean they're easy to download. Certainly as far as compared to putting a disc in a player goes.

I read that over at Rewind but could only source that info from one user and no review I read mentioned it. I suspect the Contender is the best looking of the UK DVDs and those the only ones for under £3.

For £1.75 I'm certainly happy to give it ago, especially considering I wasn't going to bother otherwise. Like I said if I like it I'll upgrade. I'd be surprised if the missing footage (presuming it really is cut) turns it into a film I'd like, if I didn't before.

Maybe not, but you do keep bulking all "Zombie films" together as if they are all the same when you talk about them.

They are like any other film, you seem to be saying a zombie film is just like another (maybe in that they have a zombie in em your right). Like thinking all Sci Fi films will be similar or the same or even worse saying horror films are all the same (I know people who think that, dum asses they are), just remember they are vastly different, in every way, well some are similar if you pick films from the same directors

Fair enough Romero. I am just pretty sure with 100% assurance they're not for me. I gave Resident Evil a chance and "quite" liked it. I enjoyed Dawn 78 while it was on but have no interest in seeing it again, and thought it was overrated, and plan to give NOTLD a go. So that's three different films there.

I tend to find after seeing 2-4 films from a genre that are supposed to be the best examples, if I don't like them then I know that genre isn't for me.

Well a genre like Horror for instance is vast in quality and variation look how different Dr Who is to Blade Runner, they cannot even be called close to each other in any way, yet people would bulk them together as Sci Fi

I guess look how different Resident Evil is to Dawn of the Dead or Shaun of the Dead (I guess it is similar to Dawn as it is a piss take of that), 3 vastly different films for me. Apart from some walking dead I guess.

I was talking about Zombie or Horror, they are the same thing if you had seen many Zombie films. Some have no actual zombies in them, 1, thousands, plotlines vasty different etc.. think of Vampire films (which I am sure you have plenty of them) and how different they can be, the same applies to Zombie films (if not more so).

If NOTLD Contender is cut, doesn't that make it illegal? I hear there is no BBFC submission for it.

God only knows seriously there are probibly 300 version of NOTLD out there. It gets re-released every few months in one country.

John Russo produced the Anchor Bay reissue of Night Of The Living Dead, which had a new score and repulsive new footage.

The original is fantastic, one of my 10 ten fave films - and MUST be seen uncut - but give the Tom Savini directed remake a go too

I cannot say there is much to cut from the film, its not exactly hardcore gore by todays standard 12A rated films not can be as bloody (but not as disturbing I guess).

It wasn't supposed to be released cut and hasn't been submitted to the BBFC, so they had no problem with it. It's not known where Contender sourced their print.

If it's cut at all. I'm not keen to take the word of one person. I've no idea if he is reliable.

I've got reliable info from someone who knows the film well. He even timed the duration of the cuts.

Fair enough, thanks. As I only paid £1.75 I'm still happy with it, if I'd paid more I'd be pissed.
