I wonder why that extra scene was never made part of the Special Edition? .
IIRC from the commentary on the R1 UE:- It was because it redundant, stating the obvious - the audience already knew that the T-1000 could understand the properties of a material by touching it.
bradavon wrote:What review is this info from? It's not part of the High Def. Digit review. Although that does say it's DTS-HD HR too. The French HD-DVD has English DTS-HD MA and French DTS-HD HR, they should've done the same in Germany.
Reread my post, I already said that it was posted in the user comments section of the review.

You did, my mistake. Thanks for the info on the commentary, many of the SE additions state the obvious. I still think they work great.

The HD image is only minutely better than the BD.

Since the TC is my preferred version the BD might be worth a cheap buy (shame they couldn't even include the extra scenes as supplements though...)

Don't bother. Wait until next year for the double-dip that'll coincide T4's release.

Oh, sorry, I misread the poster intent (it was a translation right ?) he deplores the absence of the TC if I get it now. Is the french lossless track really that ? Or just DD+ mislabeled ? With Studio Canal, you should never believe what's on the sleeve.

Captures do only say so much. Most reviews say the HD-DVDs are noticeably better. I did spot some nasty MPEG blocking on the BD.

There's no pleasing you. You get all fed up the HD-DVDs are the Special Edition then complain the BD which is Theatrical Director's Cut doesn't also include the extra scenes.

The BD was obviously a quick release with little thought to it. The biggest problem with it is it's faulty DTS track that causes the video to break up, you have to use the DD5.1 instead.

If the Theatrical Cut was my preferred cut I'd already have bought the BD. It's Region Free, cheap and an upgrade from the R1 UE.

All the Studio Canal HD-DVDs have DTS-HD Master Audio. I don't think any of them have DD Plus.

I don't understand what the rest of your post means sorry.

I did read it. Where do I say you expected the extra scenes on the BD to be part of the film? There is still no pleasing you.

While it's likely a new USA Lionsgate BD SE is coming when T4 is released that won't be until 2009 and it's by no means a guarantee. If one does come it will only be from Lionsgate. I cannot see Momentum UK bothering, all the existing T2 DVDs/HD-DVDs they've released have been ported from elsewhere.

Of course it's guaranteed, it's Terminator FUCKING Two. A double-dip of T2 is as likely as one of Evil Dead.

Blu Ray + T4 = New Special edition for T2 FACT! :D

It still won't happen until 2009, that's a long time to wait just to be stubborn. Like Eva said it's T2 so worth buying again.

So just because I prefer the TC means I can't have the SE additions as extras? Stop being a knob just for the sake of it.

Hi Brad, some reviewers says the studiocanal release is not DTS-HD but DTS-HD MA. That's why I would like someone who owns a HD amp to verify.

Thanks DVD Vision.

Did I say it was DTS-HD HR? Sorry if so. I meant DTS-HD MA. I thought all Studio Canal HD-DVDs were DTS-HD MA. It's the German disc which seems to be DTS-HD HR.

I'd prefer MA but it HR will still sound awesome and it's overall a better package. Any idea what bitrate DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR and TrueHD tend to be?

I know PCM is usually Constant 4.6Mbps. I have heard DTS-HD HR is 1.5Mbps but that cannot be right as the Core is 1.5Mbps.

T2 is getting a BD release in japan, a 2-disc steelbook containing the theatrical & the DC.looks nice but horrendously pricey.

Probably same content as the studiocanal blu-ray.

Nice!

My German Tin cost enough though (£20 second hand) and is fine for me. I prefer the Extended cut.

Yes France. I'm surprised you didn't know. The French HD-DVD had the Theatrical Cut on Disc 1 (Forced Subs) and the Extended Cut on Disc 2 (re-used in The UK).
