Cheers Gas. I've been asking around and following famous people seems to be what everyone uses it for. I mean, who wants to follow your mates second by second account of their lives?

Famous people I've so little interest in following. Sure I'm a big fan of several directors, actors, musicians etc.. but even them I've got little interest to actually meet, let alone anything else.

I use Twitter to send messages directly to Game Designers and journalists (like freelancer Jim Rossignol, who lives in Brad's town of Bath) that I follow and the like. Eg, to ask them questions, that's about all the use I get out of it though. It's more or less an alternative to RSS feeds.

I started using Facebook last month and that's pretty good. The functionality is largely the same as Twitter + a shit load more, so the latter is largely redundant to me, IMO. A nice supplement to my RSS feeds, I track posts by journalistic sources + keep in contact with my friends and relatives. I don't play stupid casual games on it though, thank god that that shit is gradually dropping off in popularity.

Those Facebook games are vile. If friends use them, I hide every one from my News Feed.

Facebook is really good, I'm finding. Really useful for keeping in touch with all of my friends from Auckland. I moved to Wellington almost 7 months ago.

I still haven't bothered to friend all of my first cousins and other relations from Australia though, just the ones whom have sent me friend requests.

I've just done the same. I was getting sick of my mate's play activity of Mafia Wars spamming up my stream.

I've never tried facebook. I used to be on AsianAvenue until that got completely fucked up (limited guestbook and stuff like that... wanting you to pay for everything that was free before...)

A friend from my class a few years ago (the cute japanese girl) tried to get me on Hyves, but I don't know... I just don't really stay in touch with people once we go different ways. I'm a bit of an einzelganger. Maybe it's also because I don't really have a lot going on in my own life so I don't wanna bother other people with it...

Was in a nostalgic mood the other night so i tried to search facebook for some people from my distant past that for one reason or another i've completely lost touch with. Didn't have much success, however i came across my first ever proper girlfriend,we went out for a few months in the early 80's, split up and then she hooked up with a friend of mine and they quickly became engaged. We then had a brief liason again around 1985 before i met my wife to be. Continued to see her and my mate sporadically through the late 80's,sometimes going out as a foursome.that was awkward given the history between us

Anyway my ex and my mate got married around 1990,we went and it was a good night. Again after that very rarely saw her though i'd see my mate ocasionally for a pint and a game of snooker.Soon even that stopped and in the years since i've never seen her (probably not for over 15 years) and my mate i've bumped into once in a blue moon, would always ask him how his missus was but he could be evasive. Not seen him for a few years now and he doesn't appear to be on facebook. Found my ex though, fuck me,it appears they've either separated or divorced and she is now a lesbian :o she's also piled on a ton of weight judging by her pics and must be 20st,maybe more.Great shame as she was quite a looker 25 years ago..Some things are best left in the past

So she's put "likes women" on her public profile? It could be a joke or that awful word frape. Cool story though. I look up old friends from time to time but never have much interest in adding them.

Apparently the over 40s are the biggest growth age group on Facebook. I guess because most Teens/20 somethings/30 somethings are on it. I literally only know of 3 people/friends under 40 who're not on it.

No,without wanting to sound like i'm stereotyping, looking at the few pics she's got up she's definitely lesbian. Which i have no problem with at all, just a shame how much she's let herself go,as i say she was a very pretty girl back in the day (with a great rack  ) in fact, now i think about it,must be 20 years since i saw her :o

I have a handful of friends I've known for about 15 years. I met them at college. I keep in contact with no one from school, it was a different world but all bar 1 of the friends I've known for 15 years I see only 2-3 times a year, basically when it's someone's birthday.

I used to try to keep in contact more but there's only so much you can ask, to be told "sorry we're busy", before you get bored of asking. My close friends I've met over the past 3-4 years.

Nope. (Well, I see one guy from school occasionally, but we're not 'friends').

I'm meeting this mate of mine i was recently talking about for a drink tonight, first time in years...feeling a bit apprehensive.i suspect we've both changed a lot in the intervening years and i suspect we may not have much to say to each other.Still for old times sake it'll be nice to see him again.

It's decent once you're used to it, how long you had it Salty? It looked really messy to me at first, but after only a couple of days using it I warmed to it, and I really like the cover photo feature - I've had the Blade Runner cityscape as mine before :)
