Yeah, I forgot that the BD is supposedly poor also.

£6.99 for a blu-ray is hardly "risk taking" -you'd sell/trade it at virtually no loss. ie Bought Street Kings from Amazon marketplace for £4.24-watched sold it on ebay,got my money back plus some on top.

Still miles better than the dvd but hell £6.99 aint cheap , if it was £1 or 2 then thats a bargain price.

£7 just sounds a lot to take a chance on some films, but you are easily able to get rid of it for more than that second hand if you dislike it, as Salty said also

For me: £4.99 it's worth it but £6.99 it's a risk too much.

With the dawn of Blu-ray renting is as important as ever for many like myself who prefer to watch in 1080p. It's not like you can simply download every Blu-ray release out there, and when you can download them it's usually a 720p re-encoded mkv. I prefer to watch the discs themselves.

Fair enough Shing. I tend to buy more than I can find the time to watch, as it is. Do you notice a big difference between 720p MKVs and 1080p BDs? I've never seen the former myself. I'm guessing the audio is only ever DD5.1 too.

OK, to be fair I never rent, but after briefly owning Chocolate on BD it's what I'd classify it as

I still rent DVDs. £1.45 per night from my local library. Unfortunately they only have a limited selection and at present don't do Blu. Places like Blockbuster are far too expensive in my opinion.

Most films I watch I wouldn't keep and I can't afford to buy everything I might want to see (unless it's about £3) and right off the difference. £6.99 for an average film like Chocolate just to see it once then sell is a needless risk. Maybe 'risk' isn't the right word but Sam used it and I'm sure you guys know what I mean.

If it was a film that I thought there was an above average chance of me keeping then £6.99 for a BD is perhaps worth a shot in the dark. Otherwise I'd say no. Rent or download the film and then if it's good go get the BD for your collection.

How is the making-off for Chocolate!? If that's as good as the making-off of Ong-Bak, it's an interesting puchase.
For 7 pounds I'm tempted to buy the blu-ray anyway, simply cause I don't own it on DVD yet.
