That link was just to illustrate what was missing from the Hong Kong version.
The Austrian DVD restores that footage
and the censor cuts made by the Germans.
You're not missing anything... no violence was cut from the HK prints.
There's an old post as asiandvdguide (now unaccessible) that appears to claim otherwise if I interpret it correctly. Quote of the original quote:

i have to say it felt like a realy different movie completly changed the tone like after 40% through it.. it was like a new film i always liked it when i had the LD but watching the unsubbed french release fully uncut was like watchin a new film.. get this at all costs.

fantastic, I'd never heard of the label 'Cult Epics' before and they've done such a great job for this rather obscure (and undeservedly so) film that is excellent and clearly influenced Guillermo del Toro.

I've only just started checking out Akira Kurosawa's work, the only one I've seen so far is High & Low.
