Bought Oblivion (UK Blu-ray) yesterday, didn't like the Frame packaging as the spine has no title on it, so went to Tesco and bought it in a standard Blu-ray case and returned the other one to HMV today.

Think it must have been for Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (BD) from Amazon.com
Over the limit but only just (about 70p)

Amazon are a customs magnet-i've been (touch wood) lucky with importcds lately...getting through unscathed.usually a bit cheaper than amazon as well.

How are you calculating the £15 limit in dollars Grim? You should use
HMRC's official conversion rates for the specific month you are ordering to make sure you don't get stung. I think Amazon.com have removed the option to checkout in pounds for certain credits cards haven't they? I know the last time I went to place an order a few days back they wouldn't let me choose the £ option on my Barclaycard.

If I was unsure about a limit I'd use the Global option.
I'd rather pay Amazon an extra few quid (which might get refunded) than be lumbered with an additional £8 Post Office charge.

Thanks Shing

At the time it shipped - August? - I think it was $1.5357 (so $1.54) = £1.
I always check out in $ from Amazon.com, their self imposed rate changing from $ to £ is even worse, imo.
I use
www.xe.com to check what the limit is in US$

XE.com's rates are the most accurate technically, but unless you have a credit card that has an equally accurate £ to $ conversion rate and they don't charge a small percentage for handling $ transactions, then the XE.com figure is never an accurate representation of what you pay Grim, it will always give you better rates than what you'll actually pay. Amazon.com's rates too are never as good as XE.com, that's why you think you're paying less when you go for the $ option at amazon & calculate the £ cost at XE, but in reality your bank still has to process that $ order and it may have worse conversion rates than Amazon, so in the end it may have been better to choose the £ option at amazon anyway. (I know this is getting confusing, it's hard to explain!

)
Anyway, regarding the customs rate, you have to estimate when customs will have the item in front of them, not when the product shipped. For instance if you place an order on August 26th and it ships on the 27th, it might be September by the time customs have the product, so you actually have to apply the September conversion rates, not the August.

Unfortunately my CC charges a bit for converting £ to $
Thinking of getting this poster for my wall
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Police-Story-Ja ... ory+poster
Japanese film poster art often looks more interesting than UK/US art

Unless I'm completely mistaken, that's not the Japanese poster...

Ah my bad, its the HK poster

Think I prefer the HK one to be honest, though I do like the Japanese posters for Bruce Lee movies
