Just picked up Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 20th Ann. Ed. for PS4. Enjoyed the demo, and with Option Files now available for PS4, it should be pretty good.

Yakuza's Law


Yakuza's Law is the digipack from the HK Video box set. The full set is oop and I already have the other two films in better quality, so I just picked this one from an eBay seller who was selling it separately.

The LW&C sets are oop as well, so I needed to pick it up before it becomes impossible to obtain for a reasonable price.

How does the LW+C TV show compare to the films, Hung? Are they equally good?

Probably not because that would make it the greatest TV series ever made

That being said, people say it's quite good. I haven't seen any episodes yet and my Collection 1 is in Finland, so...

The first season, except for episode 2 which has never been available anywhere since the very first TV broadcasting.

Seasons 2 and 3 are available on DVD in Japan, without subs of course.

Seems daft theyd miss out episode 2 imo. I wonder why it wasnt available?

I don't see any reason not to get it. That episode is missing from the Japanese dvds as well, and it hasn't been shown on TV except when the season aired for the very first time. It doesn't look like it's going to be available anytime soon if ever.

Who knows. Self censorship would be my guess. Plenty of examples of that in Japanese cinema, e.g. Toei pulling Horrors of Malformed Men from distribution for being too politically incorrect, Nikkatsu pulling Machiko Ohtani's entire filmography from distibution because she no longer wants people to know what kind of movies she did 35 years ago, and I think Toho has banned a few of their own films as well, and Yoshihiro Nishimura is unable to distribute some of his 1980s films because the stars hace since become famous politicians. And then there are all the films that feature either unlicensed music or music that has only been licensed for domestic release (e.g. Crazy Thunder Road can't be released abroad for this reason).

I'd be very interested in knowing if you really have it, because my understanding was that it (EP2) hasn't been on TV since the 1970s...

Hmm, I probably don't have it then. I can't remember what my rips were sourced from, something rough looking as I recall! I'll try and find them tomorrow!

I already saw Yakuza Masterpiece on VoD and it's bloody amazing! Easily the best film I have seen all year. I don't always agree with Chris D's reviews, but this time I can only repeat his conclusion: mindblowing!

Dracula Has Risen From The Grave/Taste The Blood Of Dracula French Blu-ray

All the Hammer films are available on two other releases (four on one, one on another.) I'm pretty stocked about the Dragon Dynasty release. They have the Cantonese soundtrack to all of them. Doesn't look like extras though. Enter the Fat Dragon I had already watched. Sammo's Bruce Lee imitation is one of the best I have seen.

Is From Beijing with Love available on its own disc? Surprised that got a US release

No, only available with that set (I believe that is the old release I have of the film as well). I'm a fan of it. Notice it does not seem to match the other films in the set . Regardless I picked up the set anyways.

I believe From Beijing with Love has a blu - ray release in HK. Anyone picked it up? upscale or true HD?

AFAIK, all the Vicol titles are genuine HD.
