No, I agree. Some super cute girls and very colorful and funny. I don't speak Japanese so there was that to deal with, but I like it more each time I look at it.

Haha, it gets to the point where I dont even notice if I speak japanese or not thats how much I get into those films.
But if I spoke Japanese then it would then be even better, If I only had one wish, just one I would wish to speak flawless Japanese.

Well I didnt know Japanese girls liked foreign accents, unlike here in America where I live any slight accent that you may have and you will be made fun of. Since Spanish was my first language some people say I have an accent but I am not sure I think I dont really maybe at times but its minor. But I dont speak Japanese but hopefully one day I could and now I wont fear having an accent since you said the girls like it LOL.

Marshall, those online translations from Japanese to English are the most retarded ever. It is actually quite hilarious sometimes when you read it. I have tried both Google and Yahoo translate and they both get the main translation down but differ slightly.

I am thrilled that you Mr. Hungfist and Mr. Marshall enjoy these films just as much as I do. Some of my friends make fun of me saying what the heck are you watching or how could you watch that without subtitles or why aren't you watching the latest Hollywood flick. Its just ignorance I guess, I have been in love with the Japanese culture since the age of 14 when I used to practice Karate that opened the doors to the Japanese world for me. Now at age 24 I love it even more. I also have been an avid fan of mostly anything from the 70's the cars, the movies, the bodybuilding and most importantly the music. Now you take the 70's and you add Japanese culture or stuff you get the perfect two.

The first Japanese film from the 70's that I ever saw was Return Of The Street Fighter that was back in 2004 on TV one random Sunday in the Summer I think it was on AMC classic movies I am not sure though. When I saw it I was like WOW a cool Japanese Martial Arts film from the 70's it couldn't possibly have gotten any better than that. Of course it was the crappy version it was dubbed, 4:3 aspect ratio but hey I was amazed. And then that same day I saw The Street Fighters Last Revenge and the first two Sister Street Fighter films. Years pass I never thought back about it. Until the Summer of 2008 when one of my friends who's a massive fan of the Japanese culture said, hey you should watch the Pinky Violence Collection. I asked what is that he said well they are exploitation Japanese films from the 70's featuring extremely hot Japanese babes hotter than any western women in the 70's LOL.

So I decided to check em out and I was instantly hooked! For the rest of that year I didnt really look much into it after I saw the four films in that genre except maybe for Delinquent Girl Boss Blossoming Night Dreams. The following year I said you know what I am gonna search for all of these actors/actresses to see if I could find any more awesome movies, My searches lead to nothing but little info until I installed the Japanese language pack and from there on it was history. I own some of the greatest Toei and Nikkatsu movies on DVD and thats all that matters. I am as passionate about Toei, Nikkatsu, and Pinky films as the teenager geeks are about anime. Then all of this made me remember that day in 2004 when I first got a taste of this, nostalgia I say. Now I ask myself and you guys as well we are probably too young and were not around back then hell we aren't even Japanese and we crave this stuff, but what about the younger Japanese generation do they even know about these films?

A lovely post Mr. FireTiger. I too caught the Japan bug when I was a kid. Godzilla, Speed Racer, Johnny Sokko, Kimba, Gigantor--could not get enough. Even used to watch untranslated episodes of Lion Maru on the local "international" TV station. Huge fan of the 70s in general as well, so when Panik House put out the Pinky Violence collection it was a life-altering experience.

Was reading about the 2009 death of Reiko Ohara. She died alone after a number of personal setbacks and wasn't found 'til two weeks later. Very sad and unfair.

I guess what I am trying to say is...should I order KEIKEN?

Inspired by FireTiger-sama, my life story:

My first touch to Japan was when I was 6 or 7 and saw the Bond film You Only Live Twice. I watched that one from video so many times... A couple of years later I told my parents that I wanna go to Japan when I grow up. During the following years I saw random Japanese films on TV... Seven Samurai, In the Realm of Senses, Sonatine... and read something about Japan in video game magazines, but eventually forgot about Nippon. Florida was every elementary school boy's dream back then, including mine.

Japan hit back when I was 14 (that was around 2001) and saw Bounce ko-gals, again on TV. This film blew me away, and I knew Japan was my thing. The irony is that Bouce ko-gals is a film about kogal girls engaging in enjo kousai (compensated dating) and selling their panties. But honestly, that wasn't the reason (ほんとだよ！）. The whole cultural surrounding, with its positives and negatives, fascinated me. I never forget those images of the girls running at the city at night.



Still, I didn't know much about Japanese cinema at that time. I had just discovered John Woo, so I was watching a lot of Hong Kong action films. A few years later I really got into Japanese cinema... Kitano, Sonny Chiba (10 Faces of Sonny Chiba) Lady Snowblood, and others... This was all around the release of Kill Bill Vol. 1. And in 2004 I watched Azumi, which lead into an unbelievable Aya Ueto fandom (live size posters, photobooks, TV dramas, calendars... you name it, I've got it). My friend was in love with Aya, too, but he didn't have a credit card, so sometimes I'd ebay him some Aya stuff that I wanted for myself... This was the time when I learned the block-headedness needed for watching movies without subtitles. Oh, and I remember I was watching the Lone Wold & Cub movies (w subs) for the first time just before graduating from high school... That was it!

In 2005, having found my interest for Japanese girls kicking ass I gave Sex and Fury a try. I was doubtful about it, not having been into exploitation movies before, but this was kinda life changing experience. Pinky Violence all the way. 2005 was also the first time I timed custom subtitle script for a Japanese dvd. That was All About Lily Chou Chou. With a guidance from a good friend I found the treasures of more and less recent Japanese cinema... Taifu Club (my all time fav film), Nobuhiro Yamashita's Osaka era films (Rambers etc) and much more. One more remarkable turning point was when I discovered Sukeban Deka and other high school action shows in 2008. Wow, those really blew a hole in my wallet.



I went to Japan for the first time in 2006. It was 1½ week tourist trip, with arranged programme (Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Hakone, Kyoto...). I was travelling alone but realized that it was ridiculously easy, so I started saving for the next trip already before the first one had finished. 3 weeks in Japan in summer 2008, then one year as an exchange student in Hokkaido in 2009-2010, and plans to apply for masters next year.

WOW Hungfist, That was so cool and interesting I am glad I am not the only guy around that likes this stuff as much as you do. By any chance did you run into any Pinky Era actresses in your stay in Japan? LOL.

These pinky violence stars seem to be pretty hard to find these days. I do know Oshida was interviewed by a Japanese film magazine some years ago, but I haven't heard anything about Sugimoto and Ike. Sugimoto supposedly left the film industry and became a kindergarten teacher in the late 70's...

The only ones I "ran into" were Noboru Iguchi and his gang

Marshall, I know it is so sad that Reiko Ohara died but not just that but the fact that they found her 2 weeks after she died god knows the pain she went through before she died and how lonely she was. And she still looked beautiful despite her age.
