I'd say that his last good films (that I've seen) were Catch Me If You Can and Minority Report.

-Amistad and A.I. are garbage.
-WotW was average.

I have yet to see Munich or that one where Tom Hanks is stuck in an airport.

Amistad is great IMO. A.I was such a let down, Kubrick would've done it properly.

WOTW was also a big let down, considering the immensely strong source material. Spielberg should be ashamed at what he managed with that one. Minority Report was the last good/great Spielberg film IMO and I've not seen Munich or The Terminal either. I've not seen Catch Me If You Can either.

Minority Report was great IMO.

Whilst I certainly wouldn't call A.I. garbage, I don't like it simply because it's so God damned depressing and bleak. Hayley Joel Osment's acting is amazing in it, and it's bloody horrible when he's being abandoned by his mother.

Munich is very powerful in places but didn't hit the spot for me.

I'm resurrecting this thread due to a discussion with Grim over on Facebook and I just wanted to clarify what exactly is the case. Incidentally Mark's original link doesn't work, the link is now:

Am I correct in saying it was uncut in UK cinemas but the UK DVD and BD are the USA PG-13 rated cut? If so, is it uncut in any country worldwide on BD? Thanks.

Also what exactly has been cut/altered? Because that link just manages to muddy the water, save for "why so serious" apparently being added.

The cinema version is the same as the BD? Really? Interesting.

That's what I remember seeing at the cinema.
I have the Blu Ray (US) but have yet to watch it.
I suspect that scene was snipped for a PG-13 and it's that version that has been supplied for home video worldwide (as per Mission: Impossible II and Charlie's Angels, which were similarly uncut in UK cinemas and cut on DVD/Blu).

If this is the version shown on the Blu Ray then I can confirm it's cut.

I remember the same thing as Mark in the cinema. I have the UK BD but havent seen it yet.

The UK BD is uncut and the same as every other edition.

What I'm saying is that the UK BD is the same cut as everywhere else. No idea what you have seen, but I saw the film at the theatre myself, normal and IMAX version and to be honest I see no difference. I even remember myself sitting in the theatre and noticing how strangely that knife-in-mouth scene was edited when the Joker cut through White's cheek.

I can't account for your memory... But I'm positive that my recollections concur with those of several other posters on various forums in which they saw a front view of The Joker cut thru the gangster's cheek (he thrusts his arm outward... the gangster's head is seen from back so no injury detail).

As this definitely been confirmed though? And I don't mean the "single" Melon Farmers link, which just muddies the water. Has anyone on this forum checked for example?

Is there a clip of the uncut scene on Youtube? I could only find the PG-13 version. If you download a camjob you would have to be certain it was the UK cinema version.

I've just *ahem* "acquired" a camcorder copy of Dark Knight because I don't recall seeing any blatant arm movement from when I saw it in IMAX back in the day (but I didn't trust my memory enough to bother posting on the matter before). The verdict? No hand movement whatsoever, it cuts to the henchman's face then back to the guy falling. I do own the Blu-ray but not watched it yet, so I'll give it a double check tomorrow!
