Really?

I'd have thought the cheap R3 titles made them decent money. They're all but identical to UK or USA DVDs but much cheaper.

I hope not as R3 titles are one of the biggest draws to me at shopping at CD WOW. R1 and UK R2 new release prices are often expensive IMO so being able to pick up the R3 is very handy.

saw this recently on another forum:

URGENT - GENUINE WARNING TO ALL CD-WOW! CUSTOMERS!

The new owners of CD-WOW! – STOMP LTD (Australian based) have just laid off all the UK customer service team WITHOUT notice, WITHOUT pay, WITHOUT redundancy and WITHOUT any owed holiday. My friend, who sadly is one of those affected, is extremely distraught and has told me things about the new owners and their work ethics that you just would not believe.

There is nobody left that used to process refunds/returns, sae’s or new cd/dvd cases so the return postal address within the UK is absolutely useless.

This of course has an element of sour grapes but my friend warned me not to order from them for the near future and I just wanted to warn you all and advise you to think very hard before you buy from them again - and of course, if you haven’t already received your order then just beware that you may not get a refund as sadly, they seem to have run out of money.

I presume this is your source? -

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729647

As you can see from the posts inside it there is nothing to backup the sole members claims at all, they also only signed up to AV Forums the very same day they posted that. It all looked very suspect to me.

I've always had good service from CD WOW so will continue to use them. I don't much use them any more though as while they're still good for CDs I don't buy many DVDs any more.

They really need to start stocking Blu-ray Discs!

the only back up i need is that my last 2 pre-orders sat waiting for suppliers until 2 months past release date until i gave up and cancelled them. they were good but nowadays offer me shit service.until they buck their ideas up i won't be using them again.

I waited 6 weeks for a CD during their troubles awhile back (before they were bought out) and gave up but other than that I've never had to wait a seriously excessive time.

I don't use them much any more. The last couple of CD orders I've found the CD cheaper elsewhere.

The last time I ordered from CD-Wow back in January I got TWELVE DVDs within THREE days.

I recently got a few too, so I dont see a problem. Some I had to wait a few weeks, but hey they were the cheapest on the net by a mile so I wait :D

it's pre-orders they seem to have serious supplier issues with.

CD WOW Sale:

http://www.cd-wow.com/countdown.php

There isn't much there to get excited over. I've not used CD WOW since November for me and December for Xmas presents.

They don't sell HD Discs (the fools!), the odd DVD I've bought I've found cheaper elserwhere and their CD prices can often be beaten now too. I've been using Music WOW lately for CDs.

You have to sign up to Paynova to order from them now. Get stuffed! :(

by bradavon
No you don't. Paynova has been CD WOW's third party company who deals with the transactions for months now but you don't sign up to anything.

When I continue it asks for my credit card details but I've not continued any further. Are you saying if I do I'll be asked to create a Paynova account? I'd be surprised if that's the case, when it looks no different from it's always looked:

I'd be okay with this though. Paynova is used all over the place anyway. You always have had a strange pervasion to signing up to sites. "I ain't signing up to any forum I cannot see" ;)

It's no different than Worldpay (Bank of Scotland), whom they used to use back in the day.

Yeah, Brad is right. You dont have to "sign up" to a Paynova account.

I'd never used that screen before.

So what's that username entry then?

XXX@XXXX

Is that for your e-mail address?

I don't see why THEY need to have your e-mail if you're not creating an account?

How are Paynova going to e-mail you a confirmation e-mail to say you've paid? ;)

It's not a Username entry. I imagine you could change it and the Payment Confirmation would go to a different e-mail address instead.

EDIT: Oh I see. It is confusingly labelled. When you click Submit you're navigated to Paynova's server (so out of the control of CD WOW) and I imagine that's a generic form used across the Paynova service.

It's no different from it's always been and has been for ages. CD WOW don't actually charge you themselves (they never have), they ask a third party to do it.

That third party needs your e-mail address (which is automatically put in the box by CD WOW) so you can get:

1. The CD WOW confirmation of order e-mail - Sent by CD WOW
2. The Paynova confirmaiton of being charged e-mail - Sent by Paynova

You don't have an account with Paynova and they just use your e-mail address the once, so they can e-mail you said e-mail. I don't think "they" (Paynova) retain your e-mail address.

It's always been this way. Surely you've noticed when you buy something from CD WOW you always get two e-mails? Or at least you should do.

It sounds like you've just not noticed the box before.

I got my vouchers today but bizarrely you can only use them on "certain" DVDs (by clicking on a link in the email). Nothing I really want (may consider 300 though)

Save you cash, them prices suck! even with a £2 voucher!

300 was £3 after vouchers a few weeks back, so paying a stupid price like that would be ignorant.

If you aint into CSI that is, as some fo them are ok.
