Anyway, not expecting anything from this. Good or Bad. Could go either way.
Matt Damon looks too 'sweet' in those pictures, not bad-ass at all... but he can be a lil bit of a bad ass when you look at the Bourne movies...
Still would have been prefered if someone else would have been casted though...
But I will wait for the movie to judge, cause he is quite a good actor, so perhaps he can pull it off.
Di Caprio looks geat in those shots though...

BTW, wasnt there also a picture of Jack with a huge dildo strapped to his waist, which was supposed to be from a scene in this movie?

I'm really looking forward to this. If there is one genre Martin Scorsese is a true auter at it's the crime ganster genre.

Leo is no Tony Leung or Andy Lau though, that's worrying. He's actually a better actor than his face lets you believe, it's just that face always looks so wet.

When's it out?

What year is the remake set? It doesn't look like present day.

Does this mean we'll be hearing lots of dodgy Irish accents then?

I have the original film... so do I really need to see this?

I'm gonna watch this in a neutral state of mind (which is what I should be doing anyway), as I have so much respect for the filmmaker and actors.

But, I'm not liking how so many remakes are coming out... especially as the originals rarely receive the same level of attention.

Mark you may not believe this but some remakes are better than the originals. I can only think of "The Thomas Crown Affair" off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others.

Oh "Vanilla Sky" is as good as "Open Your Eyes". I rate both of them.

Yeah sadly it's considered people won't see a film if it's not in English so gets virtually zero marketing. It's actually really dumb as CTHD, Hero and HOFD played in multiplexes and did well (CTHD especially of course).

Sure they don't bring in the numbers English films do on the whole but they need to? They did respectful business.

That was an OK film. Not seen the original. There are remakes better than the originals - I'm sure I have a couple even - but usually I don;t see the point of taking foreign films and remaking them so soon. A decade later? Fair enough, I guess.

I like Scorsese, but he's overrated, and so's Jack. Cape Fear and Casino are excellent, but his last memorable movie was ten years ago.

Havent seen Cape Fear, but I thought Casino started out very good, but then shifted the focus on the DeNiro-Sharon Stone relationship, in which he suddenly changed into a fucking pussy, and the whole movie went boring for me.

Goodfellas is a fucking classic though. Awesome awesome movie. Ray Liotta is superb in that one.

David Cronenberg's The Fly, John Carpenter's The Thing. Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars I'd say is about the same as Yojimbo.

It doesn't say anything??? Both are made by competent directors, of course it has to be noted that the Open Your Eyes director came up with the story has to get praise for that.

Scorsese overrated???

I agree he's gone a bit stale of late but considering what he has given us I'd say he's definitely not overrated.

I hear The Aviator is very good; I somehow have little interest in seeing this. It looks a bit dull.

Gangs of New York is an oddity had showed great flair but at the same time Scorsese got to bogged down with a silly romance that really wasn't needed. The opening scene is outstanding. I agree it's flawed but still enjoyable.

Kinda illustrates my point. Usually I make a point of checking out Scorsese, but I've never had the urge to watch this or Kundun or Bringing Out the Dead. Gangs of New York was quite reasonable from what I remember, but I'm not a fan of DiCaprio. He's just not a heavyweight leading man in my book. I took a look thru Scorsese's filmography and memorable though it is, with some high points, it's not as impressive as I thought somehow. A lot of films to admire rather than enjoy methinks. Try it yourself...

Bringing Out the Dead is a very good underrated flick. It was Scorsese's 3rd collaboration with writer Paul Schrader, the previous collaborations were Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

I still haven't gotten around to Aviator either, even though my sister has had a DVD rip for a while now. It looks really dull as Brad said.

I'm REALLY not sure how to take this. It has great actors and Scorsese is an outstanding director but the trailer makes it look all wrong.

It even looked funny in places and the serious crime drama of the original looks to be lost. I hope I'm wrong.

At the end of the day lets face it Andy Lau and Tony Leung are far superior actors to Leo Decaprio and Matt Damon. They're too young also.

Film is already getting unfavourable reviews. Can't say I'm surpried at all, wasn't planning on seeing it since I first heard about it.
