Toy Story 3 Thread: First reviews out

Snap E Tom writes "The Independent Online is reporting that Toy Story 3 has been scrapped. This is a strong clue that the Pixar guys are firmly in control at Disney. The ground-breaking films were being milked into almost as many movies as The Sims has expansion packs. John Lasseter, Pixar's creative head, was strongly against the idea of third and forth movies, while the old Disney regime pushed forward with it. Now with Pixar and Steve Jobs on the board, Lasseter has taken the necessary steps to prevent the franchise from being diluted."

About time.

Did we really need The Jungle Book 2 and Lion King 2-3-4?

I haven't seen Lion King 2/3 but just the idea sounds wrong IMO. I mean, they've made Bambi 2, a sequel to a film which is more than 60 years old. WTF?

Aye Disney it seems rely too much on straight-to-DVD sequels, instead of taking chance on new original material. I wish Pixar the best of luck with their revised partership with the mouse.

i think there was enough mileage in toy story to go for a 3rd movie. :(

But they only made the second one because Disney forced them to; luckily it ended up evolving into a proper cinema release, but it was originally going to be a straight-to-video one...

Just seen it, it's an excellent end to the trilogy, brilliant.

Pissed on even part 2. Amazing film. Features the best moment in the cinema this year so far (the hold hands moment).. No film has moved me so much for ages.

Yeah and also I was moved by this part where Andy played with his toys with the little girl, beautiful.

Yep, just been to see it and it was wonderful, and that ending made me teary-eyed Grim, so touching.
