Bullets 'n' Babes

I thought this looked very interesting, for its' unique visual style if nothing else. It looks like part animé/part CGI (sort of) but with the actual actors in it, like a real "movie"? (if that makes sense?)

Based on a Philip K. Dick novel... hopefully the filmmakers do a good job with this one.

I'll be seeing this tomorrow, it's screening as part of the Auckland International Film Festival.

It's screening in August as part of the Fantasy Filmfest in Germany. I doubt that I'll be watching it, though. The only two films that interest me this year are to see "SPL" on the big screen and that French film "Rennaisance" which is kinda like the "Sin City" comic books in terms of visuals. Not like the film, mind you.

Should be decent at the very least. Richard Linklater is a pretty acclaimed director, although I haven't seen a single one of his films.

Terrific scifi film about the long-term effects of drug use. Very funny scenes between the stoned characters as well, especially Robert Downey Jr. who steals every scene he's in.

The rotorscoped animation was very stylish and effectively showed the effects of drug hallucination. Keanu Reeves' and Winona Ryder's wooden acting made them seem like perfect stoners.

Oh, I couldn't put up with that rotoscope nonsense. Put me off immediately I saw any footage.

Film has just tanked at the US box office btw.

I think I'd have a hard time watching rotoscope animation for that long. I can barely sit through those IBM commercials that ony last 30 seconds.

blimey no 10 at the usa box office barely 2 million did it open wide,if it did that's a mega bomb of monumental proportions

I really liked the look of the footage I'd seen (in the trailers). Gave it a pertinent dimension; doesn't seem to have been just used for the flashy effect.

Nope, apparently it only had a limited release in US major cities. It's distributed by Warner Independent, you'd think they'd have the money & resources for a proper nationwide release. Especially something with star-power and gimmicks this film has.

It was a very limited release for its first week, but then opened nationwide the second week, when it placed #10. The reviews weren't so bad, but still, I think the rotoscoping would have put a lot of people off.

Opening weekend is the most important for films opening in the US, opportunities missed by poor marketing decisions.
