this arrived today, i know 4 & 5 were pretty poor but pt 1 is a cracker,i liked 2 and 3 is just bonkers but entertainingly so.the set comes in a outer card housing a 5 disc amaray case and best of all the films are in widescreen unlike the region 1 versions of 3-5.

2 & 3 are uncut as well afaik

Uncut versions of Pt. 3 and Pt. 4 have been passed by the BBFC and should be released at some point by MGM. They also have Pt. 5, which has been downgraded to a '15' cert (I guess it's the least violent/exploitative?); the only entry I haven't seen. I thought Pt. 4 was entertaining when I saw it on TV ages ago. Pt. 2 remains censored in the UK (even though the rights have reverted to MGM) and likely always will. Paramount owns Pt. 1, which rules out a UK Box Set.

yes they are definitely coming to the uk,you select the uk/eire option and the discs start with that annoying piracy is a crime ad

nice set though & less than £20 delivered not bad at all.

Thing is I already have Pts 1 & 2, that's why I'm waiting for the single releases of Pts 3 & 4 (and maybe 5?) I wish MGM would hurry up: they've been passed for several months now.

"You wouldn't steal a car", I hate that fucking thing. I own R1's, R2UK's and R4's with it on and it preceeds every theatrical screening in the multiplexes over here.
I've bought the DVD, I shouldn't need to see that shit.

Exactly. It's preaching to the converted.
Why bombard the poor buggers who've ALREADY PAID for the item!
...and how do they know I wouldn't steal a car.....?

It pisses me off as well. I KNOW piracy is a crime, I don't want to fund piracy, I've bought/rented the fucking DVD
"Stealing is against the law" - no shit

A 5 disc amaray case?
Is that 5 separate amaray cases?

Death Wish - the original film - has now been passed uncut on DVD by the BBFC.
So it's only the 2nd film which remains cut - and likely always will.

Interestingly Death Wish II is now shorter than it was a year ago - the latest version runs 84m 29s and is vut by 27s but a previous version classified in 2005 ran 85m 36s and said "Some previous cuts reinstated".

Funnily enough I watched my R1 of the original last night.
Classic film.
No extras so I don't see any reason to get the R2.

Death Wish is another film that's overdue in Hi-Def.

I'd buy a BD of Part 1.
Probably not the others...
2 is just soooo exploitative, those rapes are tough to take, film is at its best when Charlie is doing his thing;
3 a complete comic-book piss-take, very funny at times, but about as far away from the original as you can get
4 is the vigilante concept turned into a Cannon action movie, which if it had been better made might've been more fun
5 is a return to more serious waters, but after a good opening becomes tired and predictible.
BTW. That '15' for DW5 is pretty outrageous given the level of nasty violence. A woman has her face bloodily disfigured when its rubbed into broken mirror glass! I'm surprised the BBFC didn't cut that from the old '18' VHS.
