OK, here's my conclusion:
-The Bandai disc has a pink filter that isn't present in other transfers. It's also window-boxed, soft and slightly washed-out (cap N°2).
-Both the belgian and the spanish discs use the same print. Still, the belgian transfer is much sharper (cap N°3; higher bitrate, probably) and a little bit brighter.
I still recommend the Belgian disc for french and dutch speakers.

It's irritating how your dvds alway look better than mine (unless if we own the same dvd
).
The song is subbed, the subs just didn't show up on my cap for some reason.

I just compared my Spanish dvd to dvdbeaver caps and the transfer seems more or less identical to Eastern Eye transfer.
So, it seems like EE, AE, Cinéart and DeAPlaneta are all based on the same transfer.

I think it's a fine transfer anyway.
No need to sell my house just so I can buy the japanese disc.

Are you both using the same version of the PowerDVD decoder and settings?
Hmm and perhaps image saving settings/settings in apps there after? The difference between the Spanish and Belgian DVD's doesn't look right to me and with the same settings the subs should have showed up.
I have the AE and Bandia, I'll grab some caps myself later on.

Same settings, but you may be right about it being a different version (or something else). I just compared my Tai Chi Master caps to Tom's and mine are indeed slightly darker. Mine and Eva's Hard Boiled caps are identical, though. Maybe we should check everyone's settings by posting caps from the same dvds and see if they look identical.

Different subs, different timings. That's why the subs didn't show up in my R2 Spain cap. With R2J I may have screwed up by turning off the subs or something (can't remember anyomore) but I didn't consider it so important and didn't try to take another cap with subs.

I wouldn't say that the Belgian DVD was MUCH sharper. Just a smidgen. If I had the Spanish DVD I wouldn't complain.
