Bullets 'n' Babes

I know absolutely nothing about this other the fact that it's animated thriller, directed by Satoshi Kon and is "based on the popular sci-fi novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui".

The official US site is already up (Sony is the distributor), but is completely bare.

The world premiere will be at this year's Venice International Film Festival and will see US theatrical release in 2007.

"Anyway, details are immerging of the 2006 film from Satoshi Kon. Based on the 1993 book 'Paprika' by Yasutaka Tsutsui, it apparently revolves around "a female detective who investigates criminal cases by entering the dreams of subjects" according to Anime News Service. Some staff details are also revealed to include script by Seishi Minakami (who penned the 'Paranoia Agent' script too) who has worked alongside Satoshi Kon himself for this one, and music by Berserk composer Susumu Hirasawa."

Animated by the studio Madhouse, who pretty damn good.

Japanese release scheduled for November.

He's my overall favourite chap in the world of anime.

I've only seen Perfect Blue, that was a superb thriller. I'd love to see a remastered anamorphic release of that.

I got Millennium Actress about a month back for my birthday from a mate, have yet to watch it yet though.

If you watch that, you should spot characters/references that were later used in his series, Paranoia Agent. I love Millenium Actress. More of a family film compared to Perfect Blue, but it's remarkably impressive.

The Japanese released an anamorphic version. It's lovely.

I usually describe his works as animations that could very well be live action but end up all the more marvellous for being in an animated form. Everyone I've shown Tokyo Godfathers and Millenium Actress loved them.

Buying expensive R2J DVDs and then having to add my own subs is not something I'm interested in. Otherwise I would've bought the Renewal remaster of End of Evangelion yonks ago.

Have fun with the horrendous non-anamorphic discs then I guess. There's an anamorhpic French DVD too by the way.

All the shite non-anamorphic Manga Entertainment titles are all slowly seeing new releases now. I have the lovely R1 remastered LEs of Patlabor 1&2 (released after the rights reverted from Manga Ent back to Bandai Visual) and Manga are putting out a remaster of The Castle of Cagliostro at the end of the month (the R2UK Optimum release sucks:- NTSC>PAL transfer + dubtitles).

New trailer. Streamed (WMP9 format) though, making it made of fail. It should be downloadable FTW FFS.
