Seems like there are a lot of new CGI cartoons all of a sudden:

Cars
Monster House
Hoodwinked
Ant Bully
Over the Hedge

Have I missed any?

So far I've seen Over the Hedge, Hoodwinked and Cars - all are fantasticles. Might check out the rest as soon as they are released imo.

Beleve me thats not even close to the amount thats coming our way! the list is massive 27 CGI films over the next year I think it stands at! wayyy to many. Nearly all of them look bad from what I have seen, they just dont seem to be coming up with interesting stories anymore.

over the hedge kinda sucked...hammy was cool tho but then im not a huge fan of CGI/Animated stuff...

but there are way to many coming out...and most have a very similar storyline

I really dig the CGI stuff, purely from a design-prespective, as well as some of them for their stories and humour.
Pretty much all the Pixar stuff is great. It's a shame that the older ones now are already looking a bit dated. Just look at Toystory 1 for example. At the time we were all blown away by how good it looked, yet compare it with more recent stuff and we allmost go :' mehhh...'

However, I do hope to see CGI used for a bit more mature stuff. There was that CGI stylish movie LD recently posted about, that looks amazing... and Final Fantasy 7 looks great (shame about the story), so I hope we'll see some more of that more mature CGI stuff, with realistic looking people and all that, yet taking full advantage of the medium.

Ow yeah, Kung Fu Panda could turn out cool...

I can't believe how much of a slating this film got on imdb. I was expecting this to be terrible but was pleasantly suprised. Alright so it's not a masterpiece but I was certainly entertained. If anything, I wish they made it a bit darker but it's not bad, considering it's a kid's film.

I would definitely considering buying the DVD.

I expect I'll have to sit through them all once they;'re out on DVD. I love Pixar films but the only 'serious' CG films I've seen [FF, FF7 and Appleseed] were just horrible. I think we need to get some quality, serious CG films so I can decide if I have a problem with CG or shitty scripts. I mean, I wodner what I'd think of Ghost in the Shell if it suddenly became a fantastic looking CG film without a rewrite. I know that in a lot of ways I feel I prefer the simplicity of regular animation even though these days they use so many CG effects.

Warning: This film is not for wussy punk-asses and little kids. Despite its PG rating, it's actually scarier than Ringu.

It breaks my heart to say this but I found this to be better than Cars (and I'm usually unfairly biased towards Pixar). The 'camerawork' was superb, as was the animation quality, voice acting, character expressions, storyline etc. Good to see a real mature effort in the CGI animation genre. Hope to see more in the future from Amblin.

(note: alright so it's not quite scarier than Ringu but there were plenty of little kids in the audience who were shittin themselves - and thankfully kept quiet).
