This looks interesting. I haven't seen Pi or Requiem for a Dream (although I do have both on DVD as of the other day), but both are supposed to be very good.

The Fountain is an odyssey about one man’s thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. His epic journey begins in 16th-century Spain, where conquistador Tomas (Hugh Jackman) commences his search for the Fountain of Youth, the legendary entity believed to grant immortality. As modern-day scientist Tommy Creo, he desperately struggles to find a cure for the cancer that is killing his beloved wife, Isabel (Rachel Weisz). Traveling through deep space as a 26th-century astronaut, Tom begins to grasp the mysteries that have consumed him for a millennium. The three stories converge into one truth, as the Thomas of all periods—warrior, scientist, and explorer—comes to terms with life, love, death and rebirth.

Requim for a Dream is utter shite. Anti-drugs preaching in the worst over the top and unrealistic way possible, covered up with some 'hip' editing.

I dont do drugs and never will do drugs, but I can recognise 'propaganda' when I see it...
It's not even enjoyable propaganda either.

WHich doesnt meant that the Fountain will be shit as well. I have no idea.

Hmmm. TBH I really bought the Pi/Requiem twinpack for Pi, I like well-made thriller films (except formulaic predictable-as-hell Hollywood junk). I'll approach the films with an open-mind when I watch 'em.

Utter shite is a little harsh, don't you think Yi? I mean, yes, it had a morality tale in there, but the performances are very good, Ellen Burstyn especially.
What I would say is that the film doesn't cover any new ground when compared to other films, but that doesn't make it utter shite, does it?

Burstyn is the old ugly woman, right? Didnt like her over the top whining sad pathetic performance AT ALL. She just annoyed the hell out of me. However, I believe she was also in some other movie (with John Stewart and Angelina Jolie and more famous names... Sean Connery... etc) and she was annoying in that one as well....
Guess I just dont like her acting or her face or whatever. She just plains annoys me.

And yeah, I stand by my UTTER SHITE. It was pretentious anti-drugs propaganda. I guess it has it's fans cause it's 'shocking' if you would take it seriously... so it's original in that sense that it's a depressing drama with a bad, negative ending. Plus I'm sure some people will feel the acting by those involved is great or whatever. I didnt like it one bit.

Let me put it in this way: It has Jennifer Connely in it with a dildo up her ass... and STILL I didnt like it. That MUST be a very very bad movie!

Requiem for a Dream is not an anti-drug movie... it's a film about addiction.

I didn't quite connect with Pi, but adored Requiem.

Yeah, anti-addiction movie then... except everyone in it is addicted to drugs I believe? Ah well... it's close to the same thing: Drugs cause addiction>>> addiction is bad=drugs is bad.
