The trailer for this looked pretty good I thought. Could be interesting

Looks good. I love the 1930s-40s costumes.

I'm a DePalma fan and the early word has been very good.

I'm eagerly awaiting this. De Palma is superb director.

Recently saw the terrific Dressed to Kill, the fun deliberate self-parody Raising Cain, the fun rock-opera Phantom of the Paradise; and rewatched the superb Blow Out and Carrie in their OARs for the first time.

been getting ok,not great reviews in the film mags. will catch it though, this is an interesting case that i've read a couple of books about.

Don't forget the "Rear Vertigo" pastiche with porn, Body Double, which is coming out in a new R1 SE. Only extras are four featurettes, though.

I'll probably pick that up (Body Double)

Those featurettes are really a 50+ min doco split into segments. So meaty extras there. You can find the first review of the new R1 SE on dvd-basen; no comment improved PQ since it was the reviewer's first time seeing the film on DVD.

Hmm... the new Casualties of War was an improvement in terms of image so I was wondering if Body Double will be likewise. I hope so as that would give an added reason to buy. If it's just the doc, well....

If they went to the trouble of remixing the film into 5.1 on the new SE (which they did), I seriously doubt that they would've have ignored the transfer.

Anyway I'll be getting this in November, we can do a comparison with your barebones then.

Eva + Everyone else: So is it any good? I've heard mixed reports but most from those who frankly don't understand De Palma's style.

I'm going to see it.

Since my last post I've heard nothing but negative comments about the film. It's not showing at my local cinema so I'm gonna wait for DVD.

I didn't think it was that great. Some nice atmospheric touches but kinda pish tbh. I've only seen two other De Palma works and they were Scarface and the Untouchables. Loved both.

Pish? Yeah, I think that's the term Roger Ebert used.
