The Toei Pinky Violence thread

Bankaku Rock has never been released on any home video format, not even VHS, Laserdisc or 8MM. The only version floating around is a Toei Channel TV recording. Apparently this is due to the music used in the film, which includes several live performances. From what I heared the contract was only for theatrical and TV play and renegotiating it for home video (which didn't exist at the time of the film's release) has proven too expensive for Toei to bother. They made an attempt in that direction and even announced a DVD for release in July 2011 but everything fell through and the release was cancelled.

thanks for sharing... Any info on why 13 steps Maki still hasn't resurfaced ?...I hear it is widely known as one of the better films starring Etsuko Shihomi and her only sukeban film...

OK I found one more. It is from a TV show from 1977 it is called 特捜最前線第39話「密告・コーヒージャック!」（1977年、ANB / 東映）. She was featured in episode 39. I did not post the English name because I'm getting different names with different translation programs.

Nikkatsu's films were. I don't know about other studios

Ah I see. Just like you I'm not sure about the other studios either but if I had to guess I'd say they were filmed without sound as well , At least for the 70's.

On July 25 Arrow Video will release (region 1 & 2) a boxset containing the 4 films for Female Prisoner Scorpion #701 series starring Meiko Kaji...

I have a question for the people familiar with Japan on the tag/name "Pinky Violence" ... I read on countless sources that it's a name originated in the west (probably considering the DVD boxset issued by Panic House in mid 2000's) but I think the book by J-Taro S. came out in Japan in 1999 and it was the first time the name has been used commercially... can you confirm this ?

My understanding is also that Sugisaku was the first one to use the term. That's what Japanese wikipedia also says. And yes, his book came out 1999.

You've found something incredibly rare. Japanese online movie databases have never heard of it. I can tell you it's called 女は神様です産婦人科医の告白 in Japanese and stars an actress called Mami Sakura (桜マミ). It seems to be a 1973 Toei Porno film with a running time of 52 minutes. The director is Tomoomi Ida (依田智臣), who only ever directed a couple of movies but served as assistant director is some well known films like Modern Porno Tale and Yakuza's Law.
