The BBC cannot afford to be anything but completely politically correct. They haven't been in the past and it's got them in super trouble. The public though, it can get a bit silly.

He shouldn't have said it, he's apologised. End of. Carol Thatcher didn't apologise and was fired. As she should've been, she has a responsibility as TV personality to not say such things.

I found the Ausies blacking up as the Jackson 5 more offensive.

That wasn't funny, and Harry Connick Jr. was right to say something. It was in very poor taste and offensive to show them as minstrels.
Also initially I thought Dannii's comments on XF were offensive (certainly irrelevant to his singing IMO!) but maybe she was actually sticking up for Danyl and could have phrased it better (she asked why did he change the gender in the song, which was from Dreamgirls?)

True. When I first heard it that was I thought too. Totally irrelevant to the performance (it was irrelevant, what does his sexuality have to do with it?) and none of her business, but thinking about she had a good point. She just phrased it wrong. If Danyl is happy with who he is, why change the gender? Louis and Cheryl were also mean.

Because most people are obsessed with sex and sexuality.

Dannii has apologised for her comment, she didnt mean to cause offence it seems and also spoke to Danyl after the show.
