Rurouni Kenshin OVA's 1/2/3/4 R2J

Post by ForMeThisIsHeaven »

OVA's 1,2,3, & 4 of Rurouni Kenshin, released through 2001 as standalone discs. Unlike an early Ghibli title for example, whose image appears on earlier devices (VHS, Laserdisc), 4-parter saw production near the turn of the century (1999), so it's cool to think that such a well put together experience premiered on DVD; like a memento, discs can be viewed similarly amongst enthusiasts. And using 1 & 4 as clear examples (OVA 3), letters DVD carry with it the same reverence as big & small cats. Equal to Memories in every regard, and includes not only a full dub (448) should you want an alternative (& subtitles if not), lack of overall quality aside, but also a full BGM track. Features disc art in the same style as Bebop's original nine "sessions", and a front facing sleeve (OVA 1) that I like to say forms a trinity, the other two being Mononoke & DYRL (renewal). Reflection does away with BGM mix, and limits audio to Japanese. Disc isn't highlighted (think Bebop's DVD restoration), but nonetheless praiseworthy. Amaray shell. Image of Kenshin & Kaoru on jacket's front is also noteworthy, making it not only a technical marvel (picture presentation mimics Blu-ray. E.g. GiTS), but also imparts a unique desire to purchase, despite continuation's overall impact. Wrapping's color, purple, also enhances artwork.
