Thanks. Yeah, I'll probably pick a new PC up in 2-3 weeks.EvaUnit02 wrote:The price of that card has settled since it was released last November, that's all. The 9600GT 512MB will be released fairly soon, but it'll still be slower than the 8800GT 512MB.Yi-Long wrote:Was the 8800GT discounted? Cause pretty soon the newest cards will be released, right?
Just get it or the ATI Radeon 3870 now. Those cards will the sweet spot for the price to performance ratio for quite some time to come.I'm thinking of buying HP pc which has the 8800GT installed, but not sure yet.
Also, some shops are now selling pc's with 2 8800GT's (512) in them, so maybe I'll pick one of those up.
Biggest problem is that some of the PC I've seen and liked, still only use a 32 bit system and 32 bit Vista

Don't bother with SLI or Crossfire, they're more trouble than their worth. A non-tech saavy person like yourself should definitely avoid them. Just get a single card.Yi-Long wrote: Also, some shops are now selling pc's with 2 8800GT's (512) in them, so maybe I'll pick one of those up.
It normally takes Nvidia a week to release a driver with a working SLI profile for a game, and in some cases even longer for ATI to do the same. (Politics. Eg developers being in Nvidia's back pocket, so there's a purposeful delay in giving code to the ATI driver team.) Then they often have to put out a newer driver with a new SLI profile when a game is patched.

No, it's a fucking travesty. They've redone ALL of the foley effects and used entirely different elements to recreate Bernard Herrmann's score.bradavon wrote:p.s - The 5.1 remix is fine IMO.
Bob Harris may've saved the Vertigo's original elements from destruction, but his DTS remix is criminal beyond words.

Just received my modded xbox, and with a 250 gb HD.
I'm so glad I finally had it done.
I had 2 xboxes, with 1 being defective (error 16), and so I wanted them both to be modded and equiped with a larger HD. Sadly, the error 16 xbox couldnt get fixed because of the broken HD, and thus being unable to obtain the security code.
So I need to have that one modded with a chip, so the securitycode will be bypassed. So I need to get that done one of these weeks as well, after which I will call this guy up again to install the mediacenter and programs etc.
Ah well... now I'll probably be up all night copying my games to the HD.
Very speedy service btw. I called him at 7pm, and he picked them up, took them his house, modded them, and brought them back at about 10.30 pm. Fantastic

Yeah... but I felt it was needed. I have over 40 or 50 BOUGHT games for the system, and I dont wanna risk not being able to play them anymore because of a faulty diskdrive or a broken HD, so I had it fixed and I want a back-up 'fixed' xbox as well.bradavon wrote:There's life in the old dog yet then Yi
A 250GB Hard disk on an Xbox, just nutty!
It's too bad that my save-games from my error 16 xbox are gone though. I had some great goals from Pro Evo (plus lots of edited stuff), and ofcourse my Ninja Gaiden Black, which I had finished, but now I must start over
NBA Street 3v
Such a major bummer. Need to start everything over from scratch.
Ah well... hopefully this fixed Xbox will last me a long time. Plus it's now region-free, so I dont have to plug in my crappy cheap dvd player to watch region 1 or region 3 discs.
