Ofcourse I know. I just kid.
Darwin's fish is the Fish that created the universe, thus the earth. So Darwin's Fish is superiour to God. That's a FACT!

*sigh* Joke's lost on you folks, but I'll explain it anyway.
Years ago, it used to be the thing for devout Christians to put this symbol on the back of their cars:

It's a very old symbol of the Christian faith.
About 15 years ago, a new symbol started cropping up on the back of a lot of cars:

It was in response to the ignorant creationist stance many fundamentalists accepted.
(btw, I never had a crack habit, never walked the streets, and never had a Darwin fish on my car.)

I'd have to look it up, but iirc, it was a way of identifying other Christians during times when they were being persecuted. A Christian would make an arc in the dirt. If the person they were talking to was also a Christian, they'd make a corresponding arc that would create the fish symbol.thelostdragon wrote:Isn't the cross the symbol of Christian faith? Where did the fish come from? Did they find out that Jesus was hung actually and figured that a gallow wouldn't look so nice on a necklace?
Edit: Here's THE DEFINITIVE SOURCE, Wikipedia, on the Holy Mackerel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_fish

Maybe at a private religious school, but not in the public school systems. Every once in a while, you hear about some midwestern state like Kansas trying to push the teaching of "intelligent design," but it usually fails. Public education is at least one area to which separation of church and state is adhered.Markgway wrote:There still teach creationism is some states don't they?
Oh, and one more thing about the Holy Mackerel. . .
After reading that Wikipedia entry, it looks like it's not an American thing at all! Looks like the fish symbol was revived in the '60s and '70s by the Aussies, not the Americans. Interesting trivia.
