Top 3 is not enough.
No particular order:-
Exorcist 2: The Heretic = One of the most unintentionally funny films that I've ever seen.
Super Mario Brothers = A children's film that's loads of fun. Whom can't love Dennis Hopper hamming it up as King Koopa?
Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier = They fly to the centre of the universe, find God imprisoned there and then literally blow him up.
Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home = Nuclear wessels, humpback whales, Spock wearing glasses.
The Substitute = Tom Berenger kicking latino street punk ass.

Go watch some episodes of MST3K, then try repeating what you just said.HungFist wrote:The expression was invented by/for people who don't dare to admit what they really enjoy in movies.thelostdragon wrote:I have always been of the opinion that there are no movies which are so bad that they are good.
That the one with James Belushi? That was okay, I recall him mixing beer with coke in one scene.Markgway wrote:The Principal is one of my favourite films. Seriously, I've always really liked it.

I prefer Running Man to Total Recall. That's overrated IMO.
I said 3 as I couldn't think of 5
Star Trek 5 is the only one of the classic Trek films I pretty much dislike. Sure it's better than most of TNG films but it still really sucks. Part 4 is fun though. One day I'll get around to buying all of the Classic Trek DVDs. None of TNG films are keepers, not even First Contact.

Nah I do not feel guilty as its a superb film, recently watched it yet again and it is just a wonderful film in every way, it acctually makes me smile thinking about it.EvaUnit02 wrote: Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home = Nuclear wessels, humpback whales, Spock wearing glasses.
Part 5 on the other hand is the worst Trek film, by a lightyear! I wanted to turn it off. Its not just a bad Trek film, its a shit film they should be ashamed of.

I agree, bradavon wrote: One day I'll get around to buying all of the Classic Trek DVDs. None of TNG films are keepers, not even First Contact.
-Nemesis being the worst by far. The Romulans create a clone of Picard, WTF? This amusing review sums it up nicely.
-Generation was really ho-hum and gimmicky.
-Insurrection felt like an extended TNG episode and was nothing special.
-First Contact - fun monster movie. Worf has a one-liner (not just another tired Klingon cliches), "Assimilate this!"

As a TNG film I happen to like Nemesis, it's the next best after First Contact.
It's Generations which is really poor but none of them have any sort of epic feel, are far to whizzy, with lots of annoying CGI. If had a time machine I'd go back and shoot the dick head(s) who invented CGI!
Most of them feel like a TNG TV Movie. None come remotely close to the brilliancee of The Wrath of Khan or The Undiscovered Country.
I also like Part 1 (it's a decent sci-fi) and 3 too. I've never subscribed to the even numbers are best (up until Nemesis) theory. In fact I like all of the Classic films except for Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier. If they ever produced a Blu-ray box set of the original 6 I'd be happy to own it though, but no doubt it would be a 10 part box set and I'd have to buy them separately.
Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home: Is probably the weakest of the ones I like of the Classic series. It is definitely overrated and just isn't as fun being set in (what was then) modern day earth.
I currently own:
Star Trek 2: The The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock
Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country
I'd pick up:
Star Trek 1: The Motion Picture
Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home
If they could be bought for less than £5-6 each. It's now a bit pricey when BDs will be out at some point.

The Motion Picture used to have a real bad rep but the Director's Edition reveals a fantastic film
Speaking of Exorcist II. that was really hated back in the day. In a public poll, conducted for the Golden Turkey Awards, it came 2nd Worst after Plan 9 From Outer Space. It's not THAT bad but still a disapointment after the original

I don't know...Exorcist III is pretty damn good - and one scene nearly have me a cardiac arrest!
The Director's Cut is a substantial improvement because they were able to finish it. The original cut was rushed into theatres so fast the print was still wet. There's a lot of CGI additions but unlike Star Wars or ET, it's very subtle

A 'guilty pleasure' is a movie you enjoy masturbating to, while being covered in mayo, and having raw fish stuffed up your anus... right!?Shingster wrote:Just out of interest, what do the members who posted in this thread think a "Guilty Pleasure" actually is? There have been so many films mentioned in here that simply don't qualify for that term that I'm beginning to wonder what th hell some posters here are thinking.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Running Man is great fun with its combination of satire and 80's cheese, however Total Recall is a superior film IMO.bradavon wrote:I prefer Running Man to Total Recall. That's overrated IMO.

@ Yi:

Equilibrium
Rambo 2
Underworld
Red Heat
Demolition Man
Those are mine anyway.
What examples did you mean?
I've just picked up Star Trek 4 from eBay (he says mint) for £3.40 deliveredbradavon wrote:Star Trek 1: The Motion Picture

I take it to mean a film that you know is really badly made/acted/directed/whatever but you love it anyway and considering I said Action Guilty Pleasures. Films like:Shingster wrote:Just out of interest, what do the members who posted in this thread think a "Guilty Pleasure" actually is?

Yeah. Unsung classic. Any film which has a teacher beating the shit out of an unruly student with a baseball bat has to be good.EvaUnit02 wrote:That the one with James Belushi? That was okay, I recall him mixing beer with coke in one scene.
I'd vote Out For Justice as a guily pleasure. Seagal's coolest film (and he actually does some acting in it!!)

The bit where the person is attacked by shears?Ivan Drago wrote:I don't know...Exorcist III is pretty damn good - and one scene nearly have me a cardiac arrest!
That made me jump when I was a kid. Haven't seen the film since.
CGI? Blah. I didn;t even know there was a dir's cut of Legion (the original title BEFORE they added the exorcism, lol). I'd like to see it. Rumours are it was close in quality to the original film but Morgan Creek wanted something more commercial. The Director's Cut is a substantial improvement because they were able to finish it. No one in particular, just there's a lot of really weird choices. A guilty pleasure is supposed to be a film that is obviously badly made and yet you like them anyway. Almost all of the films in this thread do not fit that bill, they're mostly just bland popcorn action films, and suggestions like Drive, Last Boy Scout and Exorcist III are just crazy!gasteropod wrote:Who are you referring to?
