Interesting programme - Sinatra: Dark Star on BBC1 (9pm)

This programme starts on BBC1 from 9pm tonight, Its' quite long (finishing at 11.05 with a break for the news). It looks at Frank Sinatra's clean cut image and claims he had mafia/gangster connections and stuff.

Also on BBC3 at 11pm is a Sinatra concert from 1970 at the Albert Hall - with songs including You Make Me Feel So Young, I've Got You Under My Skin and the classic My Way.

Brad did you see it? I watched the 1st part then get bored, so turned it off - an hour would have been about the right length but 1.5 hours was too much.
Quite interesting though, alleging that Sinatra was involved with gangsters and used the mafia to help him - for example it told the story of a mafia boss talking to a film director to persuade him to let Frank star in From Here To Eternity (1953).

He sure contributed a lot to music, whether you like his style (most famous for singing jazz/swing stuff as he got older) or not.

I didn't watch the show because it's stuff we already knew and it's easy to slander the dead.

Sinatra's mob connections are legend and the stuff with the movie producer/horse head in The Godfather was based on that behind the scenes scenario in From Here to Eternity.

Yes, Sinatra was a bastard in many ways, but he's dead now so what does it matter? He didn't kill anyone.
