Many people on forums I find talk loads about film on forums, and rarley watch any! if they acctually watched films instead of acctually talking them up, that would be better for everyone. I talk a lot about them, and I watch lots, but some peope spend 5 hours + a day online talking about them and watch maybe 1 a week, a bit silly if you ask me.
A waste of time also, as Forums are bollocks really, I would rather be watching a film any day, but not in the sunny daylight

I wait till night to watch films myself and later in the year I watch more as its gets darker sooner

My longest was about 2 years. Bruce Leeroy digged me for ages as I bought it from him.

It was "Dragon Inn", not a bad film in the end but not a keeper. Far to stupid in places.

That's not easy for me to do. My Dad goes spare when my sub kicks in.

It's not the same without the sub for most films. I do do it but it's not the same.

I wanted to give you guys and update on BangCD I posted about a week ago.

I ordered the CD last Friday in the evening and it arrived yesterday. So good service I'd say, they say 7 day delivery which they met so good news all round.

They're like CD WOW and charge on order. I'd probably still use CD WOW for CDs I want quickly as they're that bit quicker but for general CD orders I'll be using BangCD from now on.

76 pence is 76 pence after all. I see no point paying more just because it's CD WOW.

I've pre-ordered "The Corrs" new album. It will be waiting for me on the kitchen table when I return from holiday, lovely. It's a pity it's not out a week earlier.

My CD came from Singapore. CD WOW's stock comes from HK. Like CD WOW it's completely in English and looks like a Western CD.

I don't know on their "Music" DVDs but check out the cover art to give you an idea. Their music DVDs didn't look all that special price wise.

I'd guess Singapore, it's hard to say. They look very much like CD WOW in how they stock their items. It's a pity they don't sell general TV/Film DVDs but then again their prices weren't great for DVDs anyway.

Have a look you may find a DVD bargain.

CDWOW have to sell UK cds, its illegal for them to sell them from anywhere but UK now, I thought you would have known that

they got on the BBC news about it for importing them too cheaply and were forced to stop.

I do but have a look at the packaging next time you order one. They're from HK but are European CDs.

To clarify something you didn't know they don't have to sell UK CDs but they must be from Europe, hence why they can get the price low. CD WOW even told me this.

I presume they're from Eastern Europe. I also presume their stock is based in HK.

It's not illegal per say it's just something the bigger UK studios don't like. Like regional coding for example.

My cd-wow packages always has "Deutche Post" post marks on them, actually all the stuff I seem to order from HK has German post marks.

sadly http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/ and other sites like it dont do a perfect job, in fact they can get prices wayyy wrong. I dont find them reliable ever.

I half agree Romero. They do get some prices wrong BUT the order of what's cheapest is usually right and more importantly they search 20+ websites.

There is no way I'm going to do that plus converting them all back to UK sterling. Personally I always:

1. Start off with CD WOW has a guide price
2. Check out DVD Price Checker
3. Lastly have a quick gander (to double check) of the 3-4 other decent e-tailors such as DVD Pacific, Play, DVD Popcorn, Benson's World, Choices Direct

If CD WOW stock a title 8 times out of 10 they're the cheapest.

Yeah sorry I love:

1. Taking time to download a track to find it's completely the wrong song.
2. It's so bad quality it's unlistenable.
3. It cuts off half way through, skips etc . . .
4. Not owning the product. Some artists I "collect" their work
5. Getting sued by the music industry

The first 3 are the reasons why I don't bother, that and to download 10+ tracks takes to long. I can't be bothered having to find out what tracks are on the album and then downloading them one by one. CD-R copies have their place for sure but I don't want all my collection made up of bootlegs (this isn't as important to me as DVDs being original).

When I download albums or copy CDs I always print out the cover on glossy photo paper. It looks very professional. Generally I just use P2P software to download B sides, rare tracks and live music.

For £6.99/£7.75 CDs are a reasonable price and thus I'm happier just buying the CD, knowing I'll get the right songs and they're decent CD quality.

Sure the last of being sued is unlikely but it's certainly possible in today's climate. That sad in good old New Zealand you may not have to worry about this? Hell Region 1-6 DVDs are legal in stores, they are not here (EVERY DVD must have a BBFC logo).

Why do you buy DVDs when you have broadband? You can download 4.7Gb ISOs (DVD Shrinked probably) or DivX movies. Surely both are good enough? Of course you still buy DVDs, it's the same reason I still buy CDs.

I dont like crappy downloaded stuff basically, I love real cds and dvds, thats why I buy them. I will only ever download something to see what its like, I dont class that as ripping them off, as if its good I buy the cd, if its crap I will delete it and never bother with it again, so in my small mind I dont break the law

but I know what I like and I 99% of the time buy it.

Hell Ebay you can get most cds for pennies I bought about 5 albums this week all for under 10 quid so far if you go on at the right time you can get a farily new album, brand new and very cheap.

How old is fairly new? What albums? I agree btw.

I've downloaded DivX movies and while some are very good with DD5.1 the quality doesn't even come close to bootleg DVDs from the likes of DVD Shrink let alone proper DVDs.

I know many people think the quality is DVD quality but no way it is IMO. How can it be it's been compressed 10 to 1. That's a massive drop.

Add to the fact you have to faf around to get the right film and it usually takes me days to download films I just don't bother or rather I do maybe once year but usually for crud like "2 Fast 2 Furious" that I wanted to see but sure as hell am not going to pay for.

Music is better for this MP3s @ 128Kbps come of considerably better, if the source is good mind you. Crucial.

Most CDs I buy are from artists I already know I like so am 90% confident I'll like the CD. With CD WOWs easy return policy I can always send it back and either get my money back (sans £1.50) or exchange it.

But like Romero says as CDs are so cheap I can't be bothered. I can click a few buttons and in a few days I have a mint CD.

and hey I hate DIVX, yes its great on a PC screen, but when you convert it to actual dvd, it never looks too good. I dont watch anything on my PC, so no good for me.

Stop using crap P2P networks like Gnutella and Kazaa. I just download full album torrents using my favourite BitTorrent client. Most of these full album torrents have a 192k-bitrate or higher. Sure, I'd love to buy uncompressed PCM audio of all my favourite artists, but I don't have the cash.

2. I'd rather have optimal encoding and the actual discs/packaging.

I use broadband mostly just to download TV episodes as soon as they've aired State-side, rather than waiting a zillion years for the shows to air locally. Currently I've managed to start downloading the new eps of Battlestar Galactica literally minutes after they've aired in the States.

The thing is with CDs I don't buy many (1-2 every other month) as they're re-used much more than DVDs so I'm happy to pay outright and get the straight away.

I only occasionally go back and buy CDs later on.

It never looks that good on a PC screen either IMO. Acceptable but not great.

I guess because e-tailors would mass import in a way retailors cannot. It's a good plan, pity they can't do it here.

I can't stand capped services. I don't care how high cap is I'm not interested.

Most are a measly 1-2Gb so pointless IMO. I only know of one ISP who offers a decent 30Gb cap.

Jeez you guys get ripped off ISP wise. 50 bucks for 256Kbps. 256Kbps speed is pretty much dead in the UK. The minimum now is really 512Kbps.

Fair point. The regionalisation of DVDs and CDs isn't right. It should be illegal.

Yep that's right. I'd like to use the DVD Times voucher but it's only 50p.

There is no way of getting 50p off and be affiliated to DVD Times as the £1 voucher link doesn't affiliate to DVD Times. If DVD Times would get a £1 voucher I'd gladly move over.

Mark just use the voucher in the e-tailors thread. I still check the relevant websites regularly and it's therefore still up to date.

There is a £1 voucher in there.

p.s - I don't "think" the 20% voucher works anymore. Romero will know better than me.

I thought I was doing DVD Times a favour by using their support link but all I ended up doing was voiding my own order. I needn't have bothered! What's the point in using an affiliate link if you get punished for the privilage? The £1 off voucher I used was legitimately sent to me by CD-Wow (and has now been wasted). I don't recall DVD Times warning that their link contained an exclusive voucher (but maybe I just didn't look close enough?) Anyways -- now you know.
