Are the Wii/Gamecube A/V leads interchangeable?

Thinking of buying a multy -> component lead set from Game.

Will the Will lead work with my Gamecube?

Component leads, no. The Gamecube component cable had a proprietary chipset inside, these pretty much killed the chance of 3rd party cables because the chipset was hard to clone. Wii component leads use the standard output AV connector that Nintendo consoles have used since the SNES though.

Wii SCART leads should work on Gamecube though, but not S-Video (at least on PAL consoles). For some daft reason known only to them, Nintendo disabled S-Video signals on PAL consoles (they also disabled SCART signals on NTSC consoles.)

Costs maybe? Scart isn't needed in countries that use NTSC. S-Video is rarely used in PAL countries either.

Obviously Component is the way to go.

Ordered a cheap Component PS2 lead (was hoping to hook PS2+Cube on one lead). Will just need another Optical one now for surround on the PS2.
