Personally, I just didnt care for any of the characters, I thought the story was 'useless' and uninteresting, I thought the comedy was severely lacking, and there wasn't anything remarkable or good in it that's really worth mentioning.

Very very mediocre.
I liked it, although, I can see why people wouldn't like it. Not a movie I will add to my collection but ok enough to watch to kill some time. It's just a parody on spy's/government/adultery. Frances Macdormand(sp?) and Brad Pitt played their idiotic characters decent enough. Nobody got at least half a smile on this?

Hit Blockbuster earlier - 4 rentals for a tenner.

Tonight I watched...

Rec (DVD, 2007)
Quality setpiece/Action drama horror? :)

4/5

Son of Rambow (Blu-Ray, 2007)
Very quaint British, family/Sunday type film. One to buy as a gift for Mothers day :P

3/5 - a bit gentle but I liked it - photography is very nice.
2010 - The return of the HK movie industry :)

Force:Five 2/5

I had rose tinted memories of this one, having been one of the first american martial arts movies i saw on the big screen (circa 1981) but watching it now it's really a poor effort.Robert Clouse's hackneyed direction belies the fact that 8 years earlier this guy had made Enter The Dragon. The script plagarises Enter at will- the "braithwaite" type character at the beginning, The evil oriental cult leader on a remote island, the hero dressing in black and sneaking round the island at night, guards paying with their lives for failing to stop him,Rhee resorting to sneaky tactics to try and beat the hero (for mirrors read smoke). There are too many similarities to mention.interesting martial arts based cast is pretty much wasted. The late Bong Soo Han plays the Han role with none of the menace of Sheih Kien. it's worth noting where the careers of some of the stars went after this. The talented Benny Urquidez proved an awesome opponent in some Jackie Chan classics, Richard Norton developed a reasonable career in 80's/90's DTV actioners But for the film's star,Joe Lewis this proved his final bid for movie stardom. His first effort,Jaguar Lives had also failed at the box office.think he played the baddie in a couple of later movies.

I've already seen the film and I think we adults can handle the shock.

A dildo boils down to a plastic shaped phallic object, meh! I used to own a 35mm camera that when extended looked very phallic but it was still nothing more than 170mm 35mm camera.

Final Destination 3 2/5

Some good setpieces but very predictable stuff. it doesn't help that the lead is one miserable bitch right from the off.

Halloween 2 (1981) 2/5

Maligned slasher sequel can't hold a candle to the original but it's still better than some of the slashers from a similar era. huge lapses in logic-Jamie Lee Curtis has just survived a murder attempt and she's carted off to hospital with no police guard? Charles Cyphers as the town sheriff is the last to be told of his daughter's death-hell it's even on the news before he gets to be told! And of course the most deserted hospital in the USA,one whose only patients are newborns, one doctor, one security guard, two ambulancemen,a couple of nurses and one female auxillary staff. Still it moves along quickly and i like the one or to nods back to the original (Laurie Zimmer camoeing as a corpse!, the unfortunate fireball victim early on being identified as Ben Tramer,Laurie's unseen crush mentioned in the first one)...and Pamela Susan Shoop has the best tits of any 80's starlet. i read a retrospective on this recently, apparently a DC may be coming.

Rick Rosenthal has a knack of making things unintentionally funny - the aforementioned example, and also in Halloween Resurrection when Michael Myers walks through a door at the beginning, and loads of other stuff later on, such as fisticuffs with a rapper.

Halloween 2 is actually better than its reputation suggests. And miles better than anything Rob Zombie could ever dream up. The cinematography is the best in the series. A dir's cut would presumably remove some of the bloody violence that was shot after the fact by John Carpenter. Laurie Zimmer? She wasn't in Halloween.

I don't think it's tame... just that everything now is so much more extreme. Halloween 2 is a lot more bloody that the original. Just goes to show what you can get away with in a '15' these days that this would probably get that lower rating. Although the topless nurse having her face burnt in the jacuzzi was cut from the old VHS.

Speaking of BBFC, the idiots just slapped Noboru Iguchi's kids film Robo-Geisha with an 18 rating. It's pg-12 here in Japan.

The BBFC no longer give out '18' certs lightly. I'm sure it deserved it.

EDIT: Contains strong, bloody violence:

Theres a big difference between the ratings though isnt there? I mean, in France, American Beauty was the equivalent of a U, over here it was an 18.
Mock The Week got an 18 in the UK for "very strong language and strong sexual references", yet it got the same Irish rating (15) as the HK film Iron Monkey which was rated 12 in the UK. Er... :?

If that's true, it's ridiculous.
