A "chance" is fine, there probably will be one one day. Hope its a decent release though and not a DVD upscale

In other words you've answered your own question, with what everyone else was thinking from the start ;).

After initially being sold as a Region A locked Blu-ray, the Hong Kong version of Ip Man is now being listed as Region Free on both Yes Asia AND DDDHouse (DDDHouse was one of the first places to confirm it being Region A only). Can anyone confirm that there is a "newer" release of this Blu-ray that is no longer Region Locked?

I have the UK Blu-ray release, but am keen to get the HK Blu-ray, since most people suggest the colours on the UK release are inaccurate...

The black details are gone on the Blu Ray in places (like hair!)! wayy to dark in places. Far from what I wanted in an upgreade.

The BD obviously has the best image... but the lack of mono makes it a definite pass.

Many shots look like from Wallace & Gromit.

I would not upgrade even if mono was included.

The BD pisses it image-wise..a clear winner.

BD clearly looks the best, has different colours to the HKL release.

Agreed. Finally/hopefully a decent picture. I'm not sure about the new colours though but still easily the best. I just wish they'd re-release FOF :(.

"Audio is a step up too with a DTS-Master and TrueHD lossless track - respectively in original Cantonese and dubbed Mandarin"

True but that's not what I meant. I don't really care about that. DTS-HD MA and TrueHD aren't upgrades. Certainly not when Asian studios make them anyway.

Colours look wrong to me, partlicularly the light sea-green sky in that final comparison.

You can, if anyone with a brain was behind the release. It is not as if they are doing their films justice at all, cheapo half cocked releases are pointless.

Of course but that often doesn't happen happens. They're not cheap though. It looks perfectly fine, actually good to me. I won't be buying it at HK BD prices, it costs way too much.
