Very funny comic, very bad joke. Sounds like he could be having difficulty coming up with new material that lives up to his "shock comic" persona and doesn't realise that he's not immune to crossing waaay over the line like every other guy who gets up on that stage - accept maybe Jerry Sadowitz as that's the whole point of his act.

More offensive to white people maybe, but the 60s & 70s were the breeding ground for many of the racist Northern style stand ups like Manning, Chubby Brown, Stan Boardmoor, Jim Davidson et al (In fact Jim Davidson wasn't above taking the piss out of disabled people) and the 70s was the main decade for those guys. Boyle taking the piss out of "mongoloids" is only one degree of seperation from many of Manning's "coons, niggers" gags.

Yeah, he can be very funny but it sounds like he crossed the line here. The fact it was about a subject personal to the lady (though Boyle wasnt to know this) made it worse.
I've only seen him on Mock The Week, Apollo etc. Is his live stuff stronger? (Probably is, though he does do some of his stand up on those shows).
The way Boyle responded when challenged seemed very mean too.
Anyone seen him on Alan Carr? He admitted what he does on stage is just an act.
