Post by Markgway »

You'll laugh... but mine is WATERSHIP DOWN(!)

And it's a 'U' certificate.

Seriously, I saw this as a kid and it freaked me out. Little bunnies bloody and dying. Christ, I would never show this to my kids. It should be a '15' I'm not joking, it's well disturbing. And here's the kicker: I STILL can't watch it. It's the only film I cannot bear to watch that's how much it traumatised me. So parents out there beware!!

Prob for me Cannibal Holocaust, Last house on the Left and the original Texas Chainsaw Mass (1970's version) with the granddad hitting the heroine.

Watership Down is def not a children movie, i remember watching this when i was a kid and thinking.. is this really a kids movie?

Pretty much all the crap horro from the 70's is so badly made they just aint disturbing at all. Last house on the Left was so poorly made I couldnt take it at all serious.

Rape in films gets to me :( Irreversible for instance is a true shocker. Mixing violence with Rape goes even further and is nasty.

For me it was probably Hellraiser which I watched when I was about 8 years old... Scary as hell! But now I'm immune to horror films - they don't even make me jump. I must be well 'ard! :)

Thats one thing, the age you see certain films :) if you see some nasty stuff when you really young you could be disturbed for life! but on the whole most are fairly tame.

I think i'm going to have to agree with romero on 'Irreversible'. The rape scene in that movie was just painful to watch. (although that's the whole point, and its good that the rape is depicted as horrible as it really is)

As a whole, i thought it was a good film with alittle more merit then pure exploitation.. but i will not watch it again.

To be honest, I think The Candyman was for me - but bear in mind this could have been due to how young I was when I saw it.

When I saw Star Trek: First Contact in theatres (in 95) with my older brother I was a little bit frightened by the Borg, but far from leaping-out-of-my-seat-scared. I was 8 or 9 at the time.

I remember watching a 3-part British documentary series when I was 7 (in 94) on the evolution of man. They had these dudes dressed as upright-walking apes, I was frightened that apemen would get me in my sleep for about a week.

I'm immune to horror movies and games. Eg Scream was like a comedy to me.

Uhm, wasn't that the point of Scream?!

I don't think I've seen any really upsetting movies really - as I tend to avoid stuff like that... kind of detracts from the enjoyment of entertainment.

Though I guess Man Bites Dog would get an honourable mention, even though I think it never was "graphic".

Scream was supposed to be a send-up/parody of teen slashers. IMO it utterly failed in that regard, it was just another teen slasher.

TCM for me, and I didn't see it until I was 30. I needed a stiff drink after that. I felt dirty after watching it.

I wouldn't be surprised, the films they show like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Meet Me in St. Louis are pretty fucking scary.
