Ronnie Barker dies

Post by grim_tales »

OMG! :o

Comedy legend Ronnie Barker has died age 76. Perhaps best known as one half of a double act with Ronnie Corbett, he was also an outstanding comedy actor and scriptwriter in his own right.
I can't believe I only last saw him recently in The Two Ronnies Sketchbook on BBC1 this year.

Truly sad news.

RIP Mr Barker

Wow, that's sad news. Even though I'm from Holland, I have seen this guy often in the past on TV and quite liked his dry-wit smart-ass remarks. He had a great sense of comic timing. It's a shame he's gone now, but I think he's had a very good life.

Special program tonight on BBC1. I might watch that although I really should be going to bed early ... :(

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I think I'll watch the Porrdige episode on BBC2.
One of the true comedy greats who we shall not see the likes of again. :(

One of very few people who actually deserve the title of comedy genius.

Agreed. :) He once said "I think its a lot better to make people laugh than cry".

In December, the BBC will apparentky show his final performance, a Two Ronnies Sketchbook Xmas Special, recorded a few months ago.

'Scotland Yard reported today that a lorry load of toilets have been stolen.. police say they have nothing to go on...'

'Four candles? No, fork 'andles!'

Classic.

Anyone see the Bafta Tribute programme (a repeat?)
I had a lump in my throat during his closing "What luck" speech, very heartfelt.

Recently his memorial was held in Westminster Abbey.

One of the great comedians of our time. Sadly missed :(
