As far as I'm concerned, abuse is a deliberate thing. I didn't intend to pass out or throw up.
saltysam wrote:nope,can't stand shorts.i'm a lager/cider drinker.
How do you know you cannot stands shorts, if you've never tried one? Clearly you have. Which is all I did, drink a short. At least if it were illegal, I'd have a good idea how dangerous it is but it's 100% legal. You're acting like I drank a bottle of the stuff.

You're also acting like drinking a shot of absinthe is different, when frankly it isn't. Someone bought me a drink and I drank it. I don't think you still realise absinthe is also a legal drink too. The government thinks it's safe to drink, they'd ban it otherwise.
grim_tales wrote:I drink lager/cider too though I tried whisky, ouzo etc. and don't like them much. Champagne is fine.
Ciders gross, real ales are gross, stout is gross (except Guinness), Ouzo is gross, as are most whiskeys (I love Southern Comfort though), vodka is gross, sambuca is gross. In fact most spirits are gross.
saltysam wrote:And in one short statement Grim shows more maturity and common sense than Brad ever has and ever will on this subject.
Don't fucking judge me, based on a few sentences you're misunderstanding. You're acting like Gas and I are drug addicts. Stop being so fucking sanctimonious.

You're such a hypocrite. I know you've gone out and got plastered, so by token have abused your body, drinking more alcohol than is good for it.

You obviously don't, which is why I have to keep repeating it. You equate alcohol with certain other drugs and the comparison is simply wrong. Throwing misleading statistics and studies into the mix is disingenous. Gas and yourself are distorting and ignoring basic facts to justify your own viewpoints. You guys aren't my friends or family: I don't care if you do drugs, really. But don't try to bullshit forum members with utter nonsense about safe drug use.
for many having one drink leads to more.
...which could turn into an abuse. It's a matter of self-control. Sensible alcohol use is perfectly safe. You would have to drink a significant amount of alcohol in order to present any danger to yourself or anyone else (or do something stupid like get behind the wheel). Just one pill or line CAN be dangerous. That's not to say it always is, but the possibility is omni-present. Survival is as much down to luck as discernment as Gas would prefer to term it. His first MDMA COULD have killed him. Thankfully it didn't. But do you see the point I'm making now...?
gasteropod wrote:Ah well, I appreciate that Brad understands where I'm coming from anyway. I'm not a druggie scumbag, honest. :)
I don't think you're a scumbag, Gas. But I do believe you're wrong.

I said I didn't like spirits etc and they werent very nice Brad :D Not something I'd drink usually.
I remember on a group outing I drank a bit much recently  But I wasnt abusive/violent etc. Know whats enough for you and thats fine I guess. I could probably have 4 pints of weaker stuff (just about) not when it includes 2 that are about 8%

i have, many years ago, whisky,Vodka, rum etc.didn't like it and so don't bother..if you drink absinthe, well known to be legal but lethal and knowing you are a weak fucker then more fool you for drinking it.still, put it down to it being one of "life's experiences" eh? what a prat.

i and many others judged you years ago, and your stupid statements day in day out just serve to prove the point.

I'm not overly keen on the taste of alcholol. I like some alcoholic drinks, but prefer the taste of certain soft drinks. I only usually drink in social situations, and quite often drink to get drunk. I'm quite happy to get shit-faced, but rarely spew. I get worse hangovers from only having 2-4 pints than I do from drinking lots more and maybe doing shots too.

I have never smoked or even taken a puff of a cigarette. There is no allure there for me, no appeal, nothing. No intention of ever doing one either.

I have never taken any illegal drug either. With the majority there is absolutely no appeal to them at all. When I was in NZ they had a legal party drug that I was tempted to try, but didn't. If the drugs were made legal and the quality control of them was good, I may be tempted by certain ones (I don't know which ones, I'd have to find out more if I became interested). I may have a hash-brownie if I go to Amsterdam. BUT I am not interested in doing any illegal drugs.

Anyway, new year's resolutions. Not made any, so thinking off the top of my head:

To tone up a bit and get rid of the lingering thin fatty layers around my stomach. Where the hell did they come from?!?!
To keep looking for ways to make money anywhere I can. Buying then selling things on ebay is doing ok at the moment.
To always have an active hobby.
To stop being annoyed by my girlf so much at times, when I know she probably doesn't really mean to annoy me (some times she does mean it, which is something that really annoys me)...
To realise that while my girlf is hot, she is never going to be Keeley Hazell or Kitty Lea...

Put Channel 4 + 1 on now Grim! It was explaining how the drug situation (i.e. zero tolerance) is not working and is causing more harm than good. Once again we have well-informed people explaining that MDMA (ecstasy) is safer than alcohol and that by having it illegal means that people buy unknown concoctions instead. The police were saying that the problem with legalising drugs is that the country has been hammered with the 'DRUGS R BAD' thing for so long by the government, that it would be too big a moral change for people.

Oh, and they showed a group lobbying for drugs to become legalised (called Transform, I think), which included parents who had lost loved ones to drugs. That's right, those parents want drugs legalised. I rest my case.

 Thanks for proving my point.

Why watch the programme? In order to see the reality of things and perhaps break out of the brainwashing you've been given? Why be self-righteous and ignorant, it's no good to anyone.

Two reasons for that:

1) Black market drugs are more dangerous because they're not regulated and you don't know what's in them
2) Addiction is due to the person rather than the drug, due to problems they have in life and how prone they are to be addicted to something in the first place

And yes, all drugs should be legalised, it would save lives, the documentary says as much but you refuse to watch it.

The Telegraph: "To tackle the problem, he concludes, we need to stop our obsession with bans and classification, and talk about drugs honestly. After watching this grimly fascinating film, I feel it’s hard to disagree."
