I feel sorry for George Lucas, what film fans have to get through their stupid, inconsiderate heads is that Star Wars is only a niche title which should only accumulate limited sales on Blu-ray, the cash for such a costly restoration simply isn't there!

You're joking right?

Why are you quoting me? I didn't say that.

Interesting read. Seems the film was transfered to just 1080p when it was restored for DVD.

The Blu-Ray would probably show up some of the restorers handy work no?

Whilst not great for future releases. BD is 1080p, so why does it matter?

Lethal Weapon 2 - Theatrical Cut

Previous cuts waived and downgraded to a '15'.

Lucas seems an idiot. Are there no HD masters for the 1977 originals?

Good to see. It's weird Warner didn't resubmit Batman but then that's not cut.

I don't see why there would be, sadly. Weren't the HD broadcasts on Sky Movies, the Special Editions?

Funny LW2 has been downgraded (when previously cut even at 18) and LW1 (which was never cut) is still an 18.

Surprised Warner bothered resubmitting LW2. As far as i understand a number of their blu-ray catalogue titles have been released uncut without being reclassified (Tango & Cash,Robin Hood:Prince Of Thieves,Above The Law) spring to mind.

Tango & Cash had already been passed uncut with an '18'.

Robin Hood - Extended passed uncut with a '12'.

The BBFC 'advised' Warners to withdraw Above the Law from sale until it had been passed. Still no sign yet. If they haven't done so then techncially they are in breach of the law.

I suspect LW1 is still an '18' for the torture scene. Mind you, it's possible that Warners simply never submitted the film for viewing (quite common these days...) They didn't need to as the film had already been passed uncut.

Part 4 will need to be resubmitted if they want that to go out uncut. I'd expect some movement soon...

I thought the BBFC were a self-appointed independent organisation?

Yeah the torture scene in LW1 is pretty strong I guess.

Interesting - seems they all have new features - maybe LW even has the DC via branching?

Sometimes a release can hit shelves before it shows up on the BBFC website.

Admittedly Warners do seem to be a bit more lax these days.
gasteropod wrote:I thought the BBFC were a self-appointed independent organisation?
Only with regards to cinema releases.

For DVD they have a legal mandate that requires they pass all product sold in the UK (unless Exempt).

Holyshitballs, Batman!!

That's ridiculously cheap. Consider it ordered...

No doubt HMV will desperately be cancelling all orders as soon as the person responsible is strung up.

Did they release that uncut, without permissions? I'm surprised Warner did that.
grim_tales wrote:Will LW4 be uncut though?
You've got plenty of time to pre-order at the cheaper price and cancel if need be.
Markgway wrote:Only with regards to cinema releases.
Didn't some cinemas show Spider-man with a PG rating? Because parents complained 12 was too high.
Markgway wrote:For DVD they have a legal mandate that requires they pass all product sold in the UK (unless Exempt).
Surely it's the BBFC who says if a film is Exempt? So effectively they're passing it too.
