She looks different (better) in Scott Pilgrim though, here's her and Knives Chau:

Me neither - I wouldnt even say she looks that Asian in Mark's shot.
Why is Ellen Wong (if that is her in the purple wig) whiter than I am in that shot?

I think you've got it all mixed up Grim, the one in the purple wig is Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), and the Asian one is Ellen Wong (Knives Chau).

You guys are crazy if you don't think MEW looks gorgeous in that pic I posted. And since virtually every pro image posted on this forum is photoshopped I see no point singling that one out.
More for me then.........

Born to Raise Hell - newest movie with everyone's favorite senile fat-ass Steven Seagal. The production is horrendous even for direct to DVD, and is actually closer to direct-to-TV Russian soap. Horrible sound, horrible production, horrible acting... Horrible everything. 1,5/5

But there's no Steven Seagal in it.gasteropod wrote:I went to see The Social Network today and it was superb! Excellent dialogue and performances.
Under Siege (1992) - best Seagal movie ever? I dunno since I'm only starting my Seagal-a-thon, but this movie was freakin' awesome. 8/10

Is AWOL (with Van Damme) any good? I think one of the satellite channels is showing it tonight.

Watched She-Devil this afternoon. An old movie with Roseanne and Meryl Streep.
I had seen it before many years ago, and remembered liking it. I watched it again...
... and TBH, I still really like it. It's a damn well made movie which kinda reminded me of a Roald Dahl story, and the movie also has the 'feel' of a movie like Mathilda. Good sountrack as well. Roseanne is nice in her role. Streep is excellent in hers. Movie has a nice pacing, story and is just a very decent flick.
One of the best scenes comes at the very end, with Streep's not so subtle response to her former critics...
3/5.

I just read on imdb.com that there was a BBC adaption. I never knew about any of it. When I watched it it just really felt like a Dahl story, with the nasty characters and all and getting revenge on them...
Soundtrack was very good and fitting as well.

I've just watched Jessica Hausner's Hotel (2004). I wish it had been longer, the credits started rolling at 1hr 10 mins for God's sake and it had plenty left to show, but I enjoyed its style, atmosphere, and nods to horror classics such as The Shining and Suspiria.

Jonah Hex 1.5/5 Cool comics character, woefully bad movie. running at 80 minutes including credits the choppy, rushed editing seems to indicate studio interference.Josh Brolin in the title role is actually ok,Megan Fox has a throaway role as a prostitute and John Malkovich hams it up as the villain Turnbull.Lots of explosions, noise and gunfire but ultimately a mess. doesn't bode well when they shamelessly steal the coffin gag from a Fistful Of Dollars within the first few minutes. the extra half a star is for Brolin who suits the role.

Lost Boys:The Thirst 2/5 One of the better DTV sequels i've seen though i suppose that's not saying much.good production values and at 80 minutes it zips along quickly and is a big improvement on the first dtv sequel. And an extra half a star for keeping Corey Feldman in work
30 Days Of Night:Dark Days 2/5 Another straight to video sequel, not bad at all, humourless and bleak but plenty of gory vampire action. The Melissa George character from the first film has been recast but the new actress playing her role does a solid job.
Predators 2/5 Reboot of this franchise is merely ok,often threatening to take off into something better but never quite doing so.Adrien Brody doesn't convince me as an action hero,Fishbourne & Trejo don't get enough screen time.Plot follows a fairly predictable path but the climax has some good action.

Funny how the original movie was - despite the R-rating - aimed at (older) kids and yet on this one according to the BBFC contains 'strong violence, language and sexualised nudity' And Part 2 was an '18'. Not so easy to get an adult rating these days.
Didn't care much for the original film.30 Days Of Night:Dark Days 2/5 Another straight to video sequel, not bad at all, humourless and bleak but plenty of gory vampire action.
Sounds like a rental for me.Predators 2/5 Reboot of this franchise is merely ok,often threatening to take off into something better but never quite doing so.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Just saw this on SKY Movies free weekend (BBFC approved version).
Pleasent enough time killer.
Not especially funny but harmless and good natured.
Pandorum
Dark (literally and figuratively) horror film is derivative but intense and interesting throughout.
Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster are good actors.
Surprised to see Cung Le (from Bodyguards and Assassins) in a noteworthy supporting role.

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out
I thought the action was good, sure the plot is by the numbers but then it is in most action films. I thought it had an 80s feel to it (maybe because the script was written in the 90s) and easily the best Predator film, after Predator obviously. It's much better than the overrated Predator 2. Basically good action and good 80s feel, sorely missing in most modern action films.
