I wouldn't have thought you'd get your money back, they sent the package as promised and you refused to pay your local post office/customs charges so surely it's your loss?

Re: What have you just ordered?
I don't know. I explained the situation and the reply I got basically said it would get sorted out. I told the postman to send the package back, so if everything went according to my instructions, amazon received the package back.gasteropod wrote:I wouldn't have thought you'd get your money back, they sent the package as promised and you refused to pay your local post office/customs charges so surely it's your loss?
I can understand if they only refund the items and not the shipping btw, but in the odd chance that they go ahead and try to screw me over, they'll be in for something.

Pretty fucking far from definitive. Judging by the screencaps it's a lot worse than the dvds...gasteropod wrote:Suspiria Blu-ray, not a definitive version but fuck it I want to watch it till a better one comes out, only £8.99 too.

I take it back, this Blu-ray is practically unwatchable. I'd read comments that once you're watching the film rather than comparing screenshots, it's not so bad, but nope it's basically ruining my life right now so I'm going to turn it off.gasteropod wrote:Well it's got to be better than the Film4 print I've seen, that one looked like an old faded porno lol

Re: What have you just ordered?
The contrast and colours are so messed up that I couldn't get immersed in the film, it looked ridiculous!

Re: What have you just ordered?
The colour scheme of Suspiria is every bit as vital as the score, they are the two elements that gloss over the wonky acting and script. The screengrabs Hung posted paint a thousand words about the contrast issues with that release, but if Salty had bothered to read the review those screengrabs come from (with a link to in Hung's post) then he wouldn't have to go digging up an Avforums review or that frankly half-arsed video review from DVDActive (The Wilson Bros are normally better than that).
Michael Mckenzie's review says all you need to say about the transfer: some parts look great, many parts looks good, some parts look absolutely fucking abysmal. The comments we've heard in this thread is, well it's the typical of the sort of exaggerated reactions you get from members of Asian film forums isn't it? How many years of this shite have we sat through Salty?

Re: What have you just ordered?
I've read these reviews months ago,i'm also familar with the link that Hung posted.what's your point?the issues with the Suspiria disc is well known but it's hardly unwatchable is it?Shingster wrote: if Salty had bothered to read the review those screengrabs come from (with a link to in Hung's post) then he wouldn't have to go digging up an Avforums review or that frankly half-arsed video review from DVDActive
Exactly.it's a mixed bag, hardly something that'll ruin your life.Shingster wrote:Michael Mckenzie's review says all you need to say about the transfer: some parts look great, many parts looks good, some parts look absolutely fucking abysmal.
i'm 46 years of age and grew up collecting my films on crappy p&s vhs videos and i was made up to do so.To reach the point we are now, seeing some of my favourite movies in dvd/BD,proper aspect ratios, uncut etc. is like manna from heaven for me. Just cannot get wound up like some of you guys do anymore, life's too short!Shingster wrote: How many years of this shite have we sat through Salty?

Re: What have you just ordered?
I'm actually been arguing with you and not against you salty!
My point is that you posted two reviews that completely gloss over the extent of the shortcomings in this transfer (and I'm sure even you will accept there are shortcomings) when you could have just cited Mackenzie's review to back your argument up much more objectively - and it's their own example! Hung was the one to dredge it up.saltysam wrote:I've read these reviews months ago,i'm also familar with the link that Hung posted.what's your point?
I'm 15yrs younger but I too grew up watching crappy p&s vhs videos of HK films (back in the day when just finding a video store with any HK film not starring Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee was a real task!), old horror films, you name it. I first saw Suspiria on crappy VHS with tinny sound and barely any colour saturation and wasn't all that impressed, the Anchor Bay DVD completely changed my opinion of the film and the new Blu-ray is a disappointment because in certain aspects (colour, contrast) it is a step backwards, but it's still a million miles away from a truly film-ruining experience.i'm 46 years of age and grew up collecting my films on crappy p&s vhs videos and i was made up to do so.
