Extra half star for the cheesey theme tune,how come one of Ho Chung Tao's worst efforts gets the best transfer low budget rip-off,the pagoda scenes look like they filmed on a set made out of paper mache.

Entertaining,inaccurate account of Bruce's life,features some decent fight scenes and is at least well shot by Ng See Yuen.Unicorn Chan,i assume is playing himself.Nice touch to see Boss #2 from the ice factory in TBB play the director on the re-creation of the film here.

Carter Wong joins forces with Ron Van Clief to bust a prostitution ring.pretty poor and amateturish with cheap production values though it livens up a little towards the end.

Been coping with some insomnia again lately, so I've been re-watching some movies...

Nausicaa Valley of the Wind: Classic Ghibli. Loved it the first time I watched it, and still love it. 5/5

The Prodigal Son; I've watched this many times already, but it remains well-paced and amusing. 4.5/5

Porco Rosso: The more I watch it, the more I appreciate it. The first time I saw it I liked it, but that was it. Now I absolutely LOVE it. I like the story, the soundtrack, and it looks fantastic and I LOVE the sky-pirates and the comedy those bad guys bring. 5/5.

Tedious Ho Chung Tao actioner,despite the title this is not a Bruceploitation film.shame to see the great Boss himself Han Ying Chieh reduced to appearing in shoddy efforts like this.

Patlabor (Japan, 1989) – 2.5/5
Mamoru Oshii’s mecha anime invests on storyline at the expense of action. The idea is good, but the overly complicated storyline relies more on endless dialogue than audio-visual storytelling. The action finale stands out more than it should. Kenji Kawai’s soundtrack is solid.

Patlabor 2 (Japan, 1993) – 3/5
The second Patlabor movie further cuts down the amount of action – the 2 hour film only comes with one major action sequence. The storyline is, again, almost exhaustingly extensive. It is, however, relatively interesting and comes with plenty of political commentary. The final 20 minutes is iconic sci-fi anime. Kenji Kawai soundtrack is truly atmospheric.

Gelatin Silver, Love (Japan, 2009) – 3.5/5
A middle aged man moves to a rundown building. His aim is to videotape every move of a woman living next door. Little is explained, or said – the first lines of dialogue come 25 minutes into the movie. Photographer turned movie director Kazumi Kurigami’s fascinating arthouse thriller is painted in black & blue, with razor sharp focus on details and atmosphere. Masatoshi Nagase stars. The target of his camera, Rie Miyazawa, has been in the focus before – the popular idol wrecked her career in the early 90’s by appearing in nude photos, but has made an impressive comeback in the 2000’s. Also props for director Kurigami for making his movie debut – at the age of 72.

Bruce Lee,My Brother 2.5/5

New biopic based on Bruce's early years in Hong Kong is well made with a fine performance as young Bruce by Aarif Rahman.Tony Leung Ka Fai & Christy Chung are also excellent as Bruce's parents.the film is a little flat though and it's as if the makers realise this as the final reel suddenly turns into an action-fest. From Robert Lee's book it's no doubt a more accurate depiction than Dragon,we see his early filmmaking years,his cha-cha skills though frustratingly his meeting with Ip Man is a let down.Some nice touches include Shek Kin being portrayed by Chin Kar Lok on the set of a Wong Fei Hung movie and the main theme is a reworking of the iconic Way Of The Dragon theme. The end fight is also a homage to the colosseum battle from Way,complete with cat well worth seeing.

Forgettable Jimmy Wang Yu basher,mediocre on every level except for the alstatian dog Lonnie who gives the film's best performance.

Yet another kung fu flick featuring guys in stupid gorilla outfits.never boring but very average.Carter Wong & Tan Tao Liang are underused here.

In my current fetish for watching 70's bashers i'm picking some right duffers.Ron Van Clief is only a supporting character in this crappy actioner,the real star is Jason Piao.the dvd looks horrible as well.

The Whispering of the Gods (Japan, 2005) – 2.5/5
Christianity gets yet another loving treatment from the Japanese. In The Whispering of the Gods an escaped killer (Hirofumi Arai of Blue Spring) settles down on a Christian farm, only to become a victim of a priest’s sexual abuse. An extremely disturbing yet thoroughly beautifully shot film that favors long takes and naturalism – and, unfortunately, some authentic seeming animal cruelty. The mix would no doubt be too much for many Christian countries, and even in Japan the film only found distribution after producer Genjiro Arato built his own theater in Tokyo to play the film. An unforgettable, partly unacceptable feel-bad movie that emotionally hammers the viewer to hospital.

"Seven Samurai" is the other film that in my opinion is perfect. To some it might sound too cliché of a film to name, but to me everything about this film works just perfectly.
