Royal Wedding-does anyone care?

Post by saltysam »

It's not happening for another couple of weeks and i'm sick of it already. We are supposed in the midst of a recession to get out the bunting, doff our caps and feel privileged to be allowed to celebrate the wedding of two privileged,spoon-fed upper class youngsters. tossers. don't like the royal family, never have.Maybe it's a north/south divide thing,i found this

"While London will have more than 500 street parties on April 29, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle will muster only 28 between them" a street party :notworthy: fuck off.

I care that I'm getting a day off. I'm sure millions care but no one I know. It's just a wedding for a family that are so out of place in the 21st century is crazy. It brings in tourism I guess. The yanks will love it, check this out:

They've only gone and made a bloody movie about William and Kate's relationship. Check out the trailer! It manages to make the cast of "The only way is Essex" look like pros (some of them probably are).

I guess you have to work? That's nice of them. I'd prefer that.

Couldn't care less about the wedding, never seen Kate Middleton outside of newspaper photos either, so I don't know how she comes across, but why are people calling her a privileged upper class bitch? I know very little about her, but even I know her parents were working/middle class who became self-made millionaires (which means at the very least she's not Upper Class).

Her parents were never ever working/middle class  nor is she. The wedding wouldn't even go ahead is she was not inbred and a posh lass and the bloodlines were not with the in crowd for many years. Dont believe the shit the media are pimping about saying she is one of us, she is not and never will be. There are a few insightful articles on this subject in the media, its hilarious stuff :D

Are you for real? how many normal everyday peoples weddings have 20,000 police officers on stand by

They can marry all they want, they should shut the fuck up and do it for themselves, not make us pay for them, their wedding and the tens of thousands of people put into play to get it done and protect them and London!

The idea of Kate Middleton being working class is laughable.

She's 'ordinary' only compared to the family she's marrying into.

It's not like Willie Boy is marrying 'Vicky Pollard'.

I'm sure she was vetted a thousand times over before the crown said 'yes'.

I agree with Mark, she's "ordinary" compared to the Royals but she's still posh imo or at least upper middle.

I'll just copy and paste what I found in 10seconds from a simple wiki search:
Middleton was born at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. She is the eldest of three children born to Carole Elizabeth, a flight attendant, and Michael Francis Middleton, a flight dispatcher and later an airline officer for British Airways. Her parents married on 21 June 1980 at the Parish Church of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and in 1987 founded Party Pieces, a mail order company that sells party supplies and decorations.

Middleton's paternal family came from Leeds, West Yorkshire, and her great-grandmother Olivia was a member of the Lupton family, who were active for generations in Leeds in commercial and municipal work. Through Olivia Lupton, her ancestors include The Rev. Thomas Davis, a Church of England hymn-writer. Carole Middleton's maternal family, the Harrisons, were working class labourers and miners from Sunderland and County Durham.
Oh and you lot (Grim aside) obviously don't know your own class system, Middleton is clearly Upper-Middle Class and no more.

I don't give a shit what so called out dated, barely relevant any more class system Kate is from. Should I?

You said it was a "joke it was going ahead", not "it's a joke it's getting so much public attention". Hence why is it a joke they're getting married? But you've answered it now.
romerojpg wrote:not make us pay for them, their wedding and the tens of thousands of people put into play to get it done and protect them and London!
Isn't their money self made? I think it is. I agree they the whole concept is very outdated though.
luckystars wrote:I like the idea of a local street party.
Meh! Why would I want to socialise with my neighbours, just because they're my neighbours? It seems hypocritical to celebrate something I don't care about.
