I could be wrong, but I believe the Joy Sales Rouge is cropped on top and bottom. Noticeably.

IIRC, they cropped from the original 1.66 ratio to fit a 1.78 screen. The situation is worse with overscan. The old Mega Star DVD is OAR.

I never understood why Rouge is so highly regarded. Just because it has Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui together? I never cared for Anita Mui, and that handsome Leslie has done much better films, like A Chinese Ghost Story or A Better Tomorrow.

A Chinese Ghost Story is a classic, been a while since I've seen it and ABT though (also very good).

I love Rouge as well, but I can see why some wouldn't...

Yi-Long wrote:Just ordered 6 Disney Blu-rays for 6-7 euro a piece, so in total I payed 40 euro for Entangled, Toy Story 3, The Lion King, Cars 1 & 2, and the Incredibles. :)

It's in a dutch online store (wehkamp.nl) where they had nice prices in combination with the 2=1 Disney deal, so that worked out very well :) I just hope they didn't screw up their online-pricing and cancel the order...
Received them all 6 just now :) All sealed, 4 out of 6 including cardboard cover.

Rapunzel, Lion King, and Cars 2 = BR + DVD
Toy Story 3 = 2-disc BR + DVD
Cars and The Incredibles = just 1 BR each.

Such a great deal :)

Ordered:

Avalon UK DVD, potential bargain here as I found it on CeX for £3 when the cheapest it's selling elsewhere is £30, hopefully when it arrives it is the correct edition.

CeX will fuck you over, trust me. I've ordered from there twice and was sent the wrong items on both occasions.

I do feel I'm taking a gamble, but since there was only one UK release of the film if they fuck up they'll have to sort it! I don't really fancy paying £30 :(

I always wanted to see those cuts but there never seemed to be a decent release. Are these new ones? Because DVD Compare says the Japanese Warner of First Strike has no English subs for the HK cut, and the HK Warner of Rumble is the international cut.

Uncut re-releases from CD Japan. There's 33% off at the minute. Both discs combined with the lowest shipping method came to £20.71.

No English subs on either, but that's no big deal as both films are mostly in English anyway. First Strike is anamorphic but Rumble isn't. :icon_suspect:

Those are the 1 Disc editions. I used to own the two disc editions, and from what I recall only the international versions were anamorphic. I could be wrong, though.

Demons and Demons 2: Arrow UK Blu-rays.

They're due out on the 30th of April but I've got them today to review :D. They're review copies but the proper discs (no packaging). I need to watch them soon, so can report back on the AV quality. The discs say "Creation Date: 08/03/2012" on them.

It's this release: http://film.thedigitalfix.com/content/i ... april.html

This sort of stuff isn't really my cup of tea but I'll review them with an open mind. To be fair, I've not seen much of it.

Should be 2.35 anamorphic, uncut and English.

I have that one too (I think the 2 disc version with the HK cut on one and US cut on the other).
